  • Publication number: 20170160393
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods to provide waypoint sharing with respect to sonar imagery for mobile structures. A waypoint sharing system includes a portable electronic device with a display, a communications module, and a logic device configured to receive a waypoint database from a sonar system user interface or a waypoint server over a wireless communication link, receive user input to adjust at least a portion of the waypoint database, and provide the adjusted waypoint database to the sonar system user interface or the waypoint server over the wireless communication link. The sonar system user interface is configured to provide a waypoint database to the portable electronic device or the waypoint server over the wireless communication ink, receive the adjusted waypoint database from the device or the server over the wireless communication link, and render at least a portion of the adjusted waypoint database on a display.

  • Publication number: 20170003865
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods to provide intuitive user interfaces for sonar systems attached to mobile structures. A sonar user interface system includes a logic device configured to communicate with one or more sonar controllers and/or sonar transducer assemblies and associated processing and control electronics and optionally orientation and/or position sensors disposed substantially within the sonar transducer assemblies. Each sonar controller and/or transducer assembly includes channels that can be operated together or independently. Configurations for each channel, transducer assembly, controller, and/or for the entire sonar system are rendered and displayed using a combination of graphical and textual indicators to allow intuitive selection and/or arrangement of system, controller, assembly, and/or channel configurations and to store configurations for recall.

  • Publication number: 20160370187
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods to provide sailing information to users of a mobile structure. A sailing user interface system includes a logic device in communication with a compass or orientation sensor, a wind sensor, and/or a speed sensor. Sensor signals provided by the various sensors are used to determine a heading and a wind direction for the mobile structure, which can be referenced to Magnet North. The wind direction and heading may be used to orient a sail chart rendered by the logic device. The sail chart graphically indicates the heading of the mobile structure relative to the wind direction and a performance contour for the mobile structure. The sail chart may be displayed to a user to refine manual operation of the mobile structure, and the information rendered in the sail chart may be used to autopilot the mobile structure.

  • Publication number: 20160259520
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for systems and methods to provide touch screen sonar adjustment for mobile structures. A sonar adjustment system includes a user interface with a touch screen display and a logic device configured to communicate with the user interface and a sonar system. The user interface is configured to receive and/or display sonar data provided by the sonar system. The logic device is configured to determine a stimulus or scroll rate component and a sample scale component of a pinch gesture performed on the touch screen display, adjust a rate and/or a sample scale factor for the touch screen display and/or for the sonar system, and render the sonar data according to the adjusted rate and/or sample scale factor. The user interface and logic device may be integrated together to form a multifunction display used to power and/or supply sonar transmission signals to the sonar system.

  • Publication number: 20160214534
Abstract: A watercraft may include a safety system having an imaging component and a control component. The control component may modify the operation of the watercraft based on images from the imaging component. The imaging component may include a thermal imaging component and a non-thermal imaging component. The watercraft may include more than one imaging component disposed around the periphery of the watercraft to monitor a volume surrounding the watercraft for objects in the water such as debris, a person, and/or dock structures. Operating the watercraft based on the images may include operating propulsion and/or steering systems of the watercraft based on a detected object. The control component may operate the propulsion and/or steering systems to disable a propeller when a swimmer is detected, to avoid detected debris, and/or to perform or assist in performing docking maneuvers. The imaging components may include compact thermal imaging modules mounted on or within the hull of the watercraft.
