  • Publication number: 20170293984
Abstract: A profile manager (PM) server receives a Food Profiling Request Message (FPREM), from a consumer's Wireless Receive/Transmit Unit (WRTU), responsive to a WRTU-initiated food-related event (FEP). The FPREM is created from information in an Input Mobile Element (IME) sent to the WRTU from a FEP provider responsive to its initiation. The IME includes code providing a link to other code directing the FPREM to the PM server. The FPREM includes an identifier for the FEP (FEID) and a consumer food profile class (CFPC). The PM server searches a lookup table for the FEID and the CFPC to determine consumer-pre-authorized attributes for sharing in association with the FEP corresponding to the FEID. The PM server sends, to a processing system associated with the FEP (FEPPS), a Food Profiling Request Response (PFRER), which includes the FEID and one of the attributes or an indication that no attributes are authorized for sharing.

  • Patent number: 9704049
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an apparatus configured to adjust a processing function for image data for a vehicle control system. The apparatus comprises an image sensor configured to capture the image data corresponding to a field of view. The image sensor is in communication with a controller which is further in communication with an accelerometer. The controller is operable to receive the image data from the image sensor and receive an acceleration signal from the accelerometer. The accelerometer signal may be utilized to identify a direction of gravity relative to the image sensor.

  • Publication number: 20160232624
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and systems are described. A method, implemented in a Food Event Processing Platform, includes establishing communication with a Wireless Receive/Transmit Unit (WRTU) attempting to process a food-related event (FE). One or more micro-service software components (MSSCs) of the FEPP are identified to process the FE. Information is obtained about a user of the WRTU that was deduced from information regarding transactions engaged in via the WRTU, and FE-related attributes are communicated to the MSSCs. It is determined whether affirmative action from the user is required. If so, a food event involvement trigger (FEIT), including a request for the affirmative action, is sent to the WRTU. A response to the FEIT is received, processed and forwarded to the MSSCs for processing. If the response is positive, the deduced information is provided to a processing system associated with a provider of the FE so it can begin processing the FE.

  • Patent number: 9053315
Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable storage media for granting a device access to a managed group are disclosed. Identification information may be exchanged between a management device in the managed group and a managed device through a secure first channel. If the identification information is verified by the management device, the managed device may be granted access to the managed group through the secure first channel. If access is granted, the managed device may access the managed group through a secure communication session on a network. If the identification information is not verified, the management device may send a cryptographic key to the managed device through the secure first channel. The cryptographic key may be used to create an encrypted communication session between the managed device and management device over the network.

  • Patent number: 8819565
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention may be used to enhance the presentation of a virtual environment for certain users, e.g., a visually impaired user. Because users may visit, and revisit, locations within the virtual environment, the state of elements in the virtual environment may change. Accordingly, audible descriptions of an object, person or environment, may be adjusted to prevent redundant or unnecessary descriptions. For example, when the user encounters a given element a second time, rather than describe each characteristic of the element, only changes to the characteristics of the element are described.

  • Publication number: 20140150070
Abstract: A secure VPN connection is provided based on user identify and a hardware identifier. A client application may initiate the VPN connection. A client device user may provide identification information to the application, which then sends a VPN connection request to a remote VPN gateway. The VPN gateway may require an equipment identifier to establish the secure VPN gateway. If the hardware ID is registered, the secure VPN connection is established. If the hardware ID is not registered with the VPN gateway, the connection may be denied. In some instances, a connection may be established with an unregistered equipment ID based on settings at the VPN gateway.

  • Publication number: 20140058979
Abstract: Methods and systems for selecting and weighting securities for an actively managed exchange-traded fund. An initial selection of stocks includes domestic or international stocks, which are selected based at least in part on market capitalization. Each stock is scored using a plurality of growth and value factors to generate one or more growth scores and one or more value scores. A selection score is determined for each stock, and the stocks are ranked according to selection scores. A predetermined amount of stocks are eliminated from the stock portfolio based on selection score ranking, and the remaining stocks are split into a plurality of sub-groups. A stock portfolio is generated by weighting the remaining stocks according to the sub-groups they are in, with each stock being equally weighted within its sub-group. An exchange-traded fund is offered to consumers based on the stock portfolio.

  • Publication number: 20130219486
Abstract: Policy enforcement previously available for web proxy access methods is extended and applied to layer 3 packets flowing through VPN channels. With these extensions, a common security policy is possible that is enforceable between VPN proxied access and VPN tunneled access. Equivalent security policy to tunnel based VPN access without comprising the inherent performance, scalability and application compatibility advantages tunne based VPNs have over their proxy based VPN counterparts.

  • Patent number: 8453237
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a method, apparatus, and program product to verify a program that includes a plurality of sections with a computing system that is configured to process a plurality of threads of execution. The method comprises verifying and executing a first section of the program utilizing a first thread of execution in response to activation of the program and determining a second section of the program to execute subsequent to the first section. The method further comprises verifying the second section utilizing a second thread of execution in parallel with the execution of the first section. Another embodiment of the invention provides a method of compiling program that includes program code by grouping the program code into sections based upon the execution time of the program code and based upon which program code is most commonly executed.

  • Publication number: 20130124433
Abstract: Provided are methods and computer software applications for generating a stock portfolio, and/or enhanced stock index, through using a plurality of growth factors and a plurality of value factors to rank stocks, and for constructing investment vehicles based on the stock portfolio. The method, software application, or computer apparatus of the present technology employs a novel stock selection strategy to select stocks from a pre-selected universe of securities such as a commercially available stock market index in order to create a stock portfolio, and/or enhanced stock index, and a fund based thereon that can generate positive alpha as compared to a fund based on the pre-selected universe of securities.

  • Patent number: 8405623
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide techniques for presenting a virtual world to sight-impaired users. In one embodiment, the user may indicate an area of focus within the virtual world. The user may then be provided with audio descriptions of objects or avatars included within the area of focus. The descriptions may be provided at varying levels of detail, enabling the user to “zoom in” on particular items of interest. Further, the user may select an audio description to navigate an avatar to the location of the corresponding object.
