Patent number: 10536292Abstract: Methods and systems for pre-configuring a payment vehicle are described. In some embodiments, transaction criteria pertaining to a payment vehicle is proactively received in advance of an anticipated transaction. A transaction authorization request may be received from a point of sale device and may be generated by the point of sale device in response to an attempted use of the payment vehicle. Information about the transaction in the transaction request may be compared with the transaction criteria to determine whether to authorize the transaction.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2019Date of Patent: January 14, 2020Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: James Christopher Watson, Gina R. Patent number: 10482441Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein include systems and methods for systematic crowdsourcing of geolocation data. Transaction data that includes an identification of a point of sale device and an identification of a payment vehicle used in the transaction can be received. A confidence in a location of the point-of-sale device can be calculated. When the confidence of the location of the point-of-sale device is lower than a threshold confidence, a location of a device associated with an owner of the payment vehicle can be determined. An updated confidence in the location of the point-of-sale device can be generated based at least in part on the location of the device.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2016Date of Patent: November 19, 2019Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: James Christopher Watson, Gina R. Patent number: 10461504Abstract: A VCSEG-DFB laser, fully compatible with MGVI design and manufacturing methodologies, for single growth monolithic integration in multi-functional PICs is presented. It comprises a laser PIN structure, in mesa form, etched from upper emitter layer top surface through the active, presumably MQW, gain region, down to the top surface of the lower emitter. Lower electrical contacts sit adjacent the mesa disposed on the lower emitter layer with upper strip contacts disposed atop the upper emitter layer on the mesa top. An SEG is defined/etched from mesa top surface, between the upper strip contacts, through upper emitter layer down to or into the SCH layers. Vertical confinement is provided by the SCH structure and the lateral profile in the bottom portion of the mesa provides lateral confinement. The guided mode interacts with the SEG by the vertical tail penetrating the SEG and evanescent field coupling to the SEG.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2019Date of Patent: October 29, 2019Assignee: ElectroPhotonic-IC Inc.Inventors: Christopher Watson, Kirill Pimenov, Valery Tolstikhin, Fang Wu, Yury Logvin

Patent number: 10425643Abstract: A method and system for view optimization of a 360 degrees video is provided. The method includes generating two-dimensional video frame from the 360 degrees video. The macroblocks are generated for the two-dimensional video frame. A foveated region of interest for the two-dimensional video frame is defined based on a given view orientation. DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) coefficients are generated for the macroblocks. View adaptive DCT domain filtering is then performed on the DCT coefficients using the foveated region of interest. Quantization offset is calculated for the DCT coefficients using the foveated region of interest. The DCT coefficients are quantized using the quantization offset to generate encoded two-dimensional video frame for the view orientation. A new view orientation is then set as the given view orientation and steps of generating, performing, calculating, and quantizing are performed for each view orientation and each video frame to generate view optimized video.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2017Date of Patent: September 24, 2019Assignee: OrbViu Inc.Inventors: Jiandong Shen, Crusoe Xiaodong Mao, Brian Michael Christopher Watson, Frederick William Umminger, III

Patent number: 10332242Abstract: Methods and system for reconstructing 360-degree video is disclosed. A video sequence V1 including a plurality of frames associated with spherical content at a first frame rate and a video sequence V2 including a plurality of frames associated with a predefined viewport at a second frame rate is received by a processor. The first frame rate is lower than the second frame rate. An interpolated video sequence V1? of the video sequence V1 is generated by creating a plurality of intermediate frames between a set of consecutive frames of the plurality of frames of the sequence V1 corresponding to the second frame rate of the video sequence V2. A pixel based blending of each intermediate frame of the plurality of the intermediate frames of sequence V1? with a corresponding frame of the plurality of frames the sequence V2 is performed to generate a fused video sequence Vm for displaying.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2018Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Assignee: OrbViu Inc.Inventors: Jiandong Shen, Crusoe Xiaodong Mao, Brian Michael Christopher Watson, Frederick William Umminger, III

Patent number: 10271212Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods, systems, and computer-readable storage medium for managing access to an application on a mobile computing device. In an embodiment, a method includes receiving a request from a user to return to the application and return to a previous screen of the application on the mobile computing device, and determining, using a processor, whether the previous screen of the application was in a secured area of the application. If it was in the secured area, then an authentication protocol is triggered prior to allowing the user to return to the previous screen in the secured area of the application on the mobile computing device. In another embodiment, geolocation dependent information is provided to a user via an application on a mobile computing device.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2018Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Jeremy Fisher, Joshua Goforth, James Christopher Watson, Richard Davey
