The first barrier layer has a first protruding portion which extends away from a sidewall surface of the first pillar layer, and a distance between the sidewall surface of the first pillar layer and a sidewall surface of the first barrier layer is in a range from about 0.5 ?m to about 3 ?m. The second bump structure includes a second barrier layer formed over the solder joint and a second pillar layer formed over the second barrier layer, wherein the second barrier layer has a second protruding portion which extends away from a sidewall surface of the second pillar layer.

The method includes providing a semiconductor substrate including a front surface, a back surface opposite to the front surface, at least one light-sensing region close to the front surface, and a first trench surrounding the light-sensing region. The method includes forming an insulating layer over the back surface and in the first trench. A void is formed in the insulating layer in the first trench, and the void is closed. The method includes removing the insulating layer over the void to open up the void. The opened void forms a second trench partially in the first trench. The method includes filling a reflective structure in the second trench. The reflective structure has a light reflectivity ranging from about 70% to about 100%.

    Abstract: The invention is a methodology which makes it possible to select from a very large number of cells, a single cell or cells of interest and obtain specific information from those cells in a rapid and efficient manner. As an example of the methodology, a large number of antibody producing cells such as plasma cells are separated so that these individual antibody producing plasma cells are placed in individual wells. The cells are allowed to produce antibodies and the antibodies in the wells are then contacted with a protein bound to a solid surface such as a well top. The protein universally and specifically binds antibodies in the wells. The surface or well tray top includes addresses configured such that each address is specifically related to one of the individual wells containing a cell producing antibodies.
