    Abstract: A liquid crystal display having a backlight with reduced noise and a method for driving the backlight is provided. The liquid crystal display includes a liquid crystal display panel and a backlight unit. The backlight unit has at least two lamps spaced from each other for supplying light to the liquid crystal display panel, wherein the two lamps are separately turned on and off.
