  • Patent number: 7629804
Abstract: A wafer probe head assembly for providing signal paths between an integrated circuit (IC) tester and input/output, power and ground pads on the surfaces of ICs formed on a wafer to be tested includes an adapter board and a probe card assembly including a space transformer and a contactor carrying substrate having a substantially planar bottom surface with printed or plated circuit traces formed thereon and a plurality of contactors plated to or photo-lithographically formed on the traces and arranged to simultaneously ohmically engage the contact pads of one or more ICs on a wafer under test. The contactors may include resilient supporting structures attached to or integrated with the signal carrying circuit traces. The probe card assembly may also include one or more substrate layers with the circuit traces and vias formed on and/or within the substrate layers to facilitate connection of the tester to the contactors.

  • Publication number: 20090158581
Abstract: A process for making a multilayer circuit device having electrically isolated tightly spaced electrical current carrying traces, comprising of providing an insulative substrate having a first side coated with a layer of conductive metal intended to form a ground plane; providing a plurality of seed layer traces of a predetermined width of approximately 25 microns or less separated from each other by a predetermined distance of approximately 25 microns or less on a second side of the insulative substrate, the narrowness of such separation being essentially limited only by characteristics of the photoresist material to be deposited and developed therebetween and to withstand subsequent processing; developing ribs or barriers of photoresist forming vertical walls rising above the spaces separating the seed layer traces and defining valleys or channels thereover; depositing a desired thickness of conductive material over the seed layer traces and in the valleys or channels between the vertical walls; stripping aw

  • Patent number: 5696861
Abstract: Television power, antenna and data coupling apparatus including the substitution of a coaxial cable or metal clad fiberoptics cable for the standard grounded wire of a typical power cord, with the ground prong being configured to form the male component of a coaxial jack connector. Similarly, at least one of the ground plug receptacles of a dual or other multiple socket wall connector is modified to form a female coaxial connector for receiving the male component of the jack connector. The outer conductor of the coaxial jack connector and the outer conductor of the female receptacle connector are used to provide the standard ground connection for the plug and receptacle. The inner metal and/or glass fiber conductors form the principal signal paths.

  • Patent number: 5455488
Abstract: Miniature light-activated lamp control apparatus and the like, including a thin disk-shaped switching unit positionable within a light bulb socket and a thin light conductor having one end attached thereto, the light conductor being extendable through the gap between the electrically conductive inner wall of the socket and the electrically conductive outer surface of the bulb base disposed in the socket, and terminating at the opposite end in a lens for gathering ambient or other light. The switching unit has a first contact on one side for engagement with the socket center terminal, and a second contact on an opposing side for engagement with the center terminal of a light bulb. The unit includes a thin circuit board having control circuitry mounted thereon, such circuitry being positioned to occupy available space between the conical bulb base and the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5395674
Abstract: Shock absorbing sheet material including a sheet of resilient material having a plurality of surface deformations configured to form bubble-like chambers of a first relatively large volume communicatively interconnected through small passageways to similar surface deformations forming relatively smaller chambers. The larger chambers are intended to extend substantially farther out of the sheet mid-plane than are the smaller chambers, such that, in response to the application of a compressive force to the sheet, the applying member will first engage the larger bubbles causing them to resiliently deform and, in so doing, cause a displaced volume of fluid contained therein to flow through the passageways and enter the smaller chambers causing them to distend outwardly to be engaged by the compression force-applying member, at which time both large and small chambers resiliently resist the compressive forces.
