  • Patent number: 5831211
Abstract: A system is provided for storing, distributing, and managing variable-type communication cables in open office environment. The system of the present invention uses a centrally located multi-user communication cable interface module, a series of cable channels with protective caps adapted to be mounted on most partition panel upper surfaces, a plurality of jumper cables routed horizontally from said communication cable interface module along said cable channels, and a plurality of routing conduits adjacent the partition panel for vertically directing the jumper cables from the cable channels to the communication cable receiving device. The present invention eliminates inconvenience and extended downtime associated with office relocations by maintaining a central connection and easily accessible, removable, and reconnectable jumper cables while providing virtually invisible cable management and distribution.

  • Patent number: 4561229
Abstract: An improved modular office screen assembly having a plurality of hollow rigid frame members supporting a central panel member is disclosed. The frame members can be interconnected through the use of connector members attached adjacent corner apertures that are dimensionally defined to receive a fastener member of a composite configuration. The fastener member has an upper part of a plastic shell to provide a planar surface contiguous with the frame member and a lower plate member to ensure both strength and retention capabilities to the fastener member.

  • Patent number: 4185430
Abstract: A modular office screen assembly having a plurality of hollow rigid frame members supporting central panel members is disclosed. Each frame is constructed from horizontal and vertical channel shaped frame sections. An aperture is provided in an upper horizontal frame section of each frame member at the juncture of the horizontal and vertical sections. An L shaped support plate is rigidly mounted within the horizontal and vertical sections. Fastener members of various shapes and capable of lying in the same plane as the surface of the vertical sections are adapted for interconnecting at least two modular screens in predetermined partition configurations. Each fastener member includes a base plate and at least two male channel members, one male channel member being inserted in each aperture provided in the respective frames. The fastener members are supported by the L shaped support plates and lie flush with the outer peripheries of the assembled, interconnected modular screens.

  • Patent number: 4176889
Abstract: A versatile modular storage unit assembly adapted for mounting to office furniture is provided wherein the number and position of the individual storage units may be subjectively determined. A plurality of support channels are mounted to a lower periphery of a work surface. A plurality of individual storage units which include a frame, are provided on a top surface thereof with a plurality of mounting rails. The mounting rails are complementary to the support channels and are designed to be slideably engageable by the support channels. A plurality of mounting channels are attached to a lower surface of the frame of each individual storage unit. The mounting channels are similar in construction to the support channels and are capable of slideably engaging and holding the mounting rails which are attached to the storage units. A plurality of bolts engaging the mounting rails and respectively the support channels or mounting channels prevent accidental dislocation of the storage units.

  • Patent number: 4102095
Abstract: An improved modular office screen system is provided having a hollow rigid frame member and a central sound-absorbing panel. Relatively movable support legs are adjustably mounted within the rigid frame member. A guide sleeve and fastener can form an aperture for receiving an upright channel of the support leg and further for adjustably holding a force bearing member to permit a subjective positioning of the support member relative to the frame member. Alternatively, a removable leg extension member can permit adjustment of the frame member when positioned above the floor.

  • Patent number: 4070803
Abstract: A supporting accessory unit such as a shelving unit is adapted for use on a modular wall panel having a peripheral support frame with a decorative planar surface. The shelving unit includes a support assembly capable of being removably attached to the interior of the modular peripheral frame without any additional fasteners. The support assembly includes an upper support shoulder and a force-bearing surface adjacent a U-shaped support bracket. The support bracket is capable of holding cantilevered shelf supports for receiving the actual shelving panel. Alternatively, a removable hook assembly can be suspended from the interior of the wall support frame.

  • Patent number: 4056297
Abstract: An electrical socket bearing fixture is adapted for use on a modular wall panel having a rigid peripheral support frame enclosing a decorative compressible planar wall surface. The fixture includes an electrical socket bearing member and a molding member for carrying electrical lines. The socket bearing and molding members can be removably mounted integrally with the modular wall panel without fasteners or alteration of the panel. The socket bearing member includes a mounting plate edge and tab which are inserted between the rigid frame and the compressible surface to position the socket bearing member. The molding member interlocks with the socket bearing member and also bears mounting tabs for insertion between the rigid frame and compressible wall surface material.

  • Patent number: 3934382
Abstract: A number of modular office screens are assembled to provide movable sound-absorbing partitions for offices and the like. Each office screen includes a modular sound-absorbing panel comprised of a rigid sound-reflecting core, a separate compressible layer of fibrous material on each side of the core for absorbing and dissipating sound energy coming from opposite sides of the core, and a channel-shaped frame extending around the perimeter of the panel. The sound-absorbing panel is slidably mounted in the channel-shaped frame and releasably held in the frame without the aid of tools or fasteners. A number of such screens are interconnected in various floor plan configurations also without requiring tools or fasteners, by releasably mounting the bottom portions of the frames in fixed upright channel-shaped base members adapted to rest on the floor and arranged in the desired floor plan configuration for each junction of two or more screens.
