  • Publication number: 20210196482
Abstract: Certain embodiments are directed to mechanical devices for augmenting dexterous reach and sensing of a user. The devices can include a proximal portion configured to receive an appendage of a user; a distal portion configured detect sensory information; an articulation positioned between the proximal and distal portion to provide for motion of the distal portion via manipulation of the proximal portion; wherein the distal portion comprising a sensing element and the proximal portion comprises a feedback element, the feedback element being connected to the sensing element providing for physical extension of sensory capabilities of the appendage.

  • Patent number: 10980955
Abstract: An airway management device (10) for a human or animal subject (20) includes an airway tube (101) having a first end for disposal external to the subject (20) and a second end (102) for disposal in a portion of an airway of the subject (20). A light emitting element (108) and a photo-sensing element (109) may be disposed at the second end (102) of the airway tube (101). The light emitting element (108) may be configured to transmit light to tissue adjacent to the light emitting element (108). The photo-sensing element (109) may be configured to receive reflectance spectra (204) from the tissue. The location of the second end (102) of the airway tube (101) may be determined from characteristics of the reflectance spectra (204) of the tissue.

  • Patent number: 10842384
Abstract: In one embodiment, a temperature sensor includes an optical waveguide having a distal tip and a thermochromic sensing element mounted to the distal tip of the optical waveguide, wherein light transmitted through the optical waveguide to the distal tip is reflected back from the thermochromic sensing element and wherein the reflected light provides an indication of a local temperature at a location of the thermochromic sensing element.
