  • Publication number: 20040175294
Abstract: Apparatus and method of exposing a chemical, biological or biochemical sample to radiation. A sample in liquid or vapour phase is segmented and conveyed along a sample path. At least one generator or source for generating electromagnetic radiation is directed at the sample and at least one of reflected, emitted and transmitted radiation is measured at at least one point along the sample path. In one embodiment, the sample is a luminescent culture produced by a continuous culture system.

  • Patent number: 6777964
Abstract: A probe station.               ABSTRACT IS TOO SHORT. We have to do something to make this paragraph longer so that Xyvision will allow us to print it out so I am adding some 50 extra words so that it will hopefully let us print it out so that we can proof the file. PLEASE REMOVE THIS EXTRA DATA.

  • Patent number: 5567181
Abstract: A low profile electrical plug includes a support plate formed from a rigid, nonconductive material such as a printed circuit board. Prongs extend perpendicularly from a face of the support plate and are oriented for insertion into a conventional electrical outlet. The prongs are adapted to snap into reciprocal apertures in the support plate during assembly. Paths of electrically conductive material are disposed on a face of the support plate and extend between the prongs and terminals formed in the edge of the support plate. A power cord has electrical conductors electrically connected to different ones of the prongs to provide an electrical connection to a remote device. For this purpose, each power cord conductor includes a connector adapted slide over one of the terminals and electrically contact a respective conductive path. The integral assembly of the power cord, support plate and prongs is molded in a nonconductive housing.

  • Patent number: 5551102
Abstract: There is provided a mobile decontamination unit which includes a shower compartment. The shower compartment has a shower head and a drain located therein. There is a means for providing water to the shower head. There is a storage tank connected to the drain to store contaminated water from the shower compartment. There is a waiting compartment, that is preferably maintained under positive pressure, connected to the shower compartment. There is a means for maintaining the shower compartment at a negative air pressure. In another aspect of the invention, there is provided a mobile decontamination unit which includes a shower compartment. The shower compartment has a shower head and a drain located therein. There are means for providing water to the shower heads and means for heating the water before it reaches the shower heads. A storage tank is connected to the drains for storing contaminated water.

  • Patent number: 5399093
Abstract: A low profile rotatable electrical plug includes a housing and a set of conductive prongs positioned on one face of the housing for insertion into a conventional wall outlet. A power cord exits the housing in a direction generally perpendicular to the prongs such that the cord parallels the wall when the plug is inserted into a wall outlet. A rotative coupling device mounted within the housing provides a rotative electrical connection between the power cord and the prongs. The rotative coupling device includes first and second sets of conductors carried by respective conductor support plates. The conductors in the first support plate are electrically connected to respective conductors in the power cord, and the conductors in the second support plate are electrically connected to respective prongs. The first support plate is fixedly mounted within the housing and the second support rotates within the housing relative to the first support plate.
