  • Publication number: 20150132248
Abstract: Antimicrobial quaternized polyurethane materials and methods of forming and using the materials are disclosed. The quaternized polyurethane antimicrobial materials may be synthesized from one or more diisocyanates and one or more diols or triols. The quaternized polyurethane materials may be stand alone or coated onto other surfaces, such as medical devices, table tops, air/water filters, or the like to provided desired antimicrobial devices and surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20150094641
Abstract: This invention is in the field of medicinal intervention. The present invention relates to a device constructed from metals, polymers or other materials that are amenable to precise surface modifications and coupling with erodible agents methods for its use, wherein (1) the erodible agents, which contain active ingredients (medications), provide for acute control of cellular proliferation and (2) a pattered surface having milli, micron, and/or nano-sized micro-patterning characteristics imparts anti-proliferative properties over the long-term.

  • Publication number: 20130129663
Abstract: Biodegradable triblock copolymer compositions are provided which are useful in tissue engineering and drug delivery. The copolymers are reverse thermal gels in that when heated from a lower temperature to a higher temperature, they gel. These gels are useful in drug delivery when complexed with an active agent. For example the compositions can be used for intraocular injection of active agents, such as anti-angiogenic agents for treatment of a maculopathy or retinitis.

  • Publication number: 20120244369
Abstract: The invention provides novel compositions comprising one or more polymers, including a functional triblock copolymer and optionally a structural triblock copolymer and compositions that include such polymers. The functional triblock contains quaternized nitrogen anti-fouling functionality. The compositions can be used to prepare antimicrobial, antifouling coatings, for example, for medical, health, marine fouling, corrosion and general protein fouling resistance applications.

  • Patent number: 7887926
Abstract: The invention provides novel polymers, including triblock polymers, as well as methods of preparing the polymers, and compositions that include such polymers. The polymers can include at least three blocks, the first block that includes poly(styrene), the second block that includes a random arrangement of poly(ethylene) and poly(butylene), and a third block that includes functionalized poly(isoprene). Units of the functionalized poly(isoprene) block can include hydroxyl groups and one or more ether linked side chains comprising R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, as defined herein, or a combination thereof. The polymers can be used to provide antifouling coatings, for example, for marine ship hulls.
