  • Patent number: 7266118
Abstract: A packet receiving method may include receiving a packet having either a compressed header or a noncompressed header. A packet received with a compressed header is decompressed to regenerate a non-compressed header for the packet. Error detection is performed to detect the presence of an error in a packet: (1) received with a noncompressed header, (2) having a regenerated non-compressed header, or (3) having a replacement non-compressed header. Part of the non-compressed header, in a packet having a regenerated non-compressed header, is replaced with previously stored non-compressed header information, which is known to be correct, when an error is detected in the packet so as to produce a replacement non-compressed header. A packet is output as a correctly received packet when no error is detected in the packet.

  • Publication number: 20070135084
Abstract: Distributed data is not edited at a distributing end but is edited in a terminal apparatus, thereby reducing the cost. The terminal apparatus can quickly retrieve necessary information. In the apparatus, a cell ID extracting part (104) extracts all the cell IDs that can be currently received. A data receiving part (105) extracts distributed data. A data sorting part (106) compares the cell ID related to the distributed data with the cell IDs that can be currently received, and adds priorities to the distributed data in such a manner that a “high” priority is given to the distributed data related to the same cell ID as the local cell, while the lower priorities being given to the distributed data related to the cell IDs of other cells that are farther from the local cell. A display part (108) sequentially displays the distributed data in decreasing order of the priority.

  • Publication number: 20070127472
Abstract: A broadcast data communication method is capable of reducing unnecessary power consumption accompanying the reception of broadcast data that is not desired by a user and it is possible to reduce annoyance accompanying the performing of broadcast notification by not carrying out broadcast notification for broadcast data the user does not desire. In this method, a broadcast notification information identifier is added to broadcast notification information at a broadcast data transmission server of a broadcast data communication system. The broadcast notification information is received at the broadcast data receiving terminal (S1). The broadcast notification information identifier is then saved as notification unnecessary information (S8), and reception of broadcast data corresponding to broadcast notification information containing a broadcast notification information identifier that is the same as the saved broadcast notification information identifier is stopped (S9).

  • Patent number: 7197687
Abstract: When an error is detected in a received header, in estimating reference information while assuming an error in a packet receiving interval, a header is decompressed using at least one value of another candidate sequence numbers used in correcting an erroneous sequence number, corresponding to a time that elapses between previously receiving a packet correctly and receiving a current packet and to the packet receiving internal. It is thereby possible to increase a possibility of estimating the reference information correctly and suppress the number of discarded packets at a receiving side, while suppressing increases in introduced processing amount in data transmission with header compression.

  • Patent number: 7000166
Abstract: In a header decompression apparatus 709, a header decompressor 703 refers to reference information stored in a reference information manager 707 to decompress a compressed header of a packet received by a packet receiver 704. An error detector 702 detects a CRC error in the packet with its header decompressed by the packet receiver 704, and outputs only a correct packet. A successive error counter 705 counts the number of successive errors detected by the error detector 702. A successive decompression success counter 706 counts the number of decompression successes that successively appear. By referring to these counted numbers, an update request unit 708 transmits an update request to a transmitting side as required. A reference information manager 707 manages the reference information for header decompression. With this structure, the header decompression apparatus can request update of the reference information based on the state of the error.

  • Publication number: 20060031513
Abstract: According to the media server 100 and the network control apparatus 200, upon distributing a plurality of media data to the media receiving apparatuses 400 having different transmission rates by broadcasting or multicasting, the distribution precedence is attached by associating the program control information and the media data. The distribution precedence attached to the program control information is set same as or lower than the distribution precedence of all media data included in the program concerned. Then, depending on the distribution precedence, the transmission possible media data and the program only are selectively distributed. The program control information relating to the program that includes the receivable media data by the media receiving terminal apparatus 400 only is selected and received. This way, the receivable media data is distributed depending on the transmission environment of the media receiving apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20060023720
Abstract: Information relating to a playback of divided static media data included in static media transmission data is stored in static media transmission data previous than the static media transmission data, and transmitted, thereby making it possible to determine whether there is no divided static media data originally or lost when the divided static media data is not received. Accordingly, in the case where static media such as timed text and the like is used in distribution of streaming type, when receiving no static media data, a data receiving apparatus determines whether there is no media data to be next displayed or media data is lost in the course of transmission to notify a user of loss of media data correctly. Moreover, Moreover, it is possible to reduce time required for packet loss detection to execute a retransmission request without increasing pre-buffering.

  • Patent number: 6987730
Abstract: A data transmitter 10 transmits packets each with a sequence number and a priority added. A data receiver 20 detects any packet loss by referring to the sequence numbers added to the packets, and if detecting any packet of high priority as having been lost, requests for packet retransmission. Based on information about thus detected packet loss, the data receiver 20 generates and transmits an RR packet 110 indicating the packet reception state. The data transmitter 10 extracts from the RR packet 110 a packet loss ratio 200, and therewith, changes manners of priority assignment. The manners are so changed that the packet of high priority is found with a lower ratio when the packet loss ratio 200 is high, and when the packet loss ratio 200 is low, found with a higher ratio.
