Publication number: 20050207496Abstract: A motion vector estimation circuit (101) interpolates, with sub-pixel precision, a prediction block indicated by a motion vector estimated with integer-pixel precision as well as a region around the prediction block within a search area in a reference picture, using a 2-tap pixel interpolator (605), and estimates two or more motion vectors indicating positions of prediction blocks having high correlation with a current block to be coded, within the interpolated region. A motion compensation circuit (102) interpolates, with sub-pixel precision, each of the prediction blocks indicated by the estimated motion vectors, using a 6-tap pixel interpolator (901), compares the coding costs of the interpolated prediction blocks, and determines a motion vector indicating a position of a prediction block having highest correlation with the current block, from among the estimated motion vectors.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2005Publication date: September 22, 2005Inventors: Daisaku Komiya, Youji Shibahara, Shinya Kadono

Patent number: 6925121Abstract: A system of detecting a motion vector for an object block in a current frame of an orthogonally transformed video with respect to a stored reference frame. The motion vector is detected by: extracting a predetermined pattern of lower frequency components from the object block; orthogonally inverse transforming the extracted lower frequency components within the pattern to yield the pattern of pixel data; searching the reference frame for a block having a maximum correlation with the pattern of pixel data; and calculating the motion vector from the object block to the block having a maximum correlation. As an orthogonal transform, DCT (discrete cosine transform) is preferable. Creating a row and a column image comprising sums obtained by adding all the pixels in each column and each row of the object block and applying the above searching and calculating process to the row and the column image enables the motion vector detection from a normal or noncompressed video.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1998Date of Patent: August 2, 2005Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Daisaku Komiya, Tsutomu Uenoyama, Kazunori Yamada, Hiroaki Yoshio

Publication number: 20040210657Abstract: A protocol for extending session endpoints in an ad-hoc network environment first performs device discovery to determine local devices within its coverage area and the capability of those devices. These local devices then exchange session descriptions with the endpoint device. If the current session may be supported by one of the local devices, the endpoint device, responsive to a command from an user, transfers the session endpoint to the local device and the endpoint device acts as a proxy for the local device in the session. Optionally, if the local device has a path to the correspondent node that is independent of the path through the endpoint device, it establishes the session along this path and then signal the endpoint node to terminate its session.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2003Publication date: October 21, 2004Inventors: Sathya Narayanan, Daisaku Komiya, Rajesh Khandelwal
