    Abstract: An internal combustion engine which is provided with a fuel injector which injects fuel into a cylinder, an exhaust purification catalyst, and a secondary air feed device which feeds air to an engine exhaust passage. First catalyst warm-up control performs stratified combustion to retard an ignition timing, while second catalyst warm-up control feeds air to the engine exhaust passage. A first temperature range of engine cooling water at which the first catalyst warm-up control is performed and a second temperature range of engine cooling water at which the second catalyst warm-up control is performed are set. The second temperature range is set to be included inside the first temperature range.

    Abstract: An engine controller according to one aspect of the invention is applied to a cylinder injection engine including a fuel injection valve that directly injects fuel into a cylinder. The engine controller determines whether knocking is occurring based on a signal from a knocking sensor. When the knocking is occurring, the engine controller performs partial lift fuel injection at a predetermined timing close to an ignition timing. The partial lift fuel injection is performed with a lift amount of a valve body of the fuel injection valve limited within a range between a minimum lift amount (0) and a partial lift amount, which is smaller than a maximum lift amount.

    Abstract: In the present invention, an internal combustion engine is provided with an in-cylinder fuel injection valve and a secondary air supply device and is formed so as to make possible first catalyst warming control and second catalyst warming control that promote the raising of the temperature of an exhaust gas purification catalyst. The first catalyst warming control comprises control to inject fuel from the in-cylinder fuel injection valve during the compression stroke to form a stratified state, and control to greatly delay ignition timing. The second catalyst warming control comprises control to supply secondary air to an engine exhaust gas passage. The internal combustion engine executes the first catalyst warming control after startup and, after the first catalyst warming control is executed, carries out control (third catalyst warming control) to execute the first catalyst warming control and the second catalyst warming control simultaneously.

The transfer member has a carbon fiber reinforced composite material body with a layer of metal film on the top and bottom surfaces of the transfer member that provides a reflective surface. Flat panel displays, for example, release radiant thermal energy that is absorbed by the carbon fiber reinforced composite which is detrimental to the flat panel display. The reflective surface created by the metal film prevents the energy absorption by the carbon fiber reinforced composite. A glass fiber and epoxy layer on the metal film surface protects the metal film.
