Publication number: 20250067679Abstract: A method for testing a heat transfer fluid based on a charged wire test (CWT) includes applying and measuring discharge current through a test circuit formed when a cathode and an anode are at least partially immersed in the heat transfer fluid in a container and a voltmeter coupled to the cathode and the anode is turned on during the CWT. The method includes measuring temperature of the heat transfer fluid during the CWT, determining a current profile based on the measured discharge current, and determining a temperature profile based on the measured temperature. The method includes determining a pass/fail status and/or a rank status of the heat transfer fluid based on pass/fail criteria based on the current profile and the temperature profile during an entire duration of the CWT.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 11, 2024Publication date: February 27, 2025Inventors: Ying Yang, Dale Reid, Jennifer Jenkins, Samuel Elliott, Virginia Whittington-Byrd, David E. Patent number: 12056385Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to detecting and correcting a storage array's drive sectors to prevent data loss. In embodiments, a storage array's telemetry information is monitored. Further, one or more state or operational metrics of the storage array's storage drives are measured. Additionally, each storage drive is scrubbed based on each drive's relative scrubbing priority defined by the telemetry information and each storage drive's state or operation metrics.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2021Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: EMC IP Holding Company LLCInventors: Malak Alshawabkeh, Seema Pai, Dale Elliott, Christopher Monti, Sunil Gumaste, Krishnamoorthy Anantharaman, Ravish Sachdeva, Abhilash Sanap, Pankaj Soni, ShashiKiran Talanki Ramanathagupta

Patent number: 10956245Abstract: A storage system in one embodiment comprises a host processor, and a solid-state storage device coupled to the host processor and comprising a non-volatile memory and a storage controller. The host processor is configured to initiate an error scanning operation on a designated portion of the non-volatile memory by directing at least one read command to the storage controller. The read command is configured to indicate to the storage controller that data read from the non-volatile memory responsive to the read command is not to be returned to the host processor. For example, the read command may illustratively comprise a Scatter Gather List (SGL) bit bucket descriptor indicating that the data read from the non-volatile memory responsive to the read command is to be discarded rather than returned to the host processor. The storage controller records any detected errors in a media error log and notifies the host processor of such errors.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2017Date of Patent: March 23, 2021Assignee: EMC IP Holding Company LLCInventors: Amnon Izhar, Patrick Weiler, Stephen Richard Ives, Michael D. Patent number: 9766980Abstract: Individual storage devices of a RAID group are monitored for faults. A health indicator for each storage device is calculated based on fault growth rate. Non-failed storage device are swapped out based on the health indicator. Techniques for monitoring the storage devices include background media scans and growth list polling.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2013Date of Patent: September 19, 2017Assignee: EMC IP HOLDING COMPANY LLCInventors: Krishnamoorthy Anantharaman, Michael D. Publication number: 20160346573Abstract: Improvements in a lithium battery fire suppression water hose system is disclosed. The system uses a connection to a vehicle that allows first responders to connect to the vehicle and release fire suppressant material into the vehicle into a location that is most susceptible to fire. The connection is accessible from a port located on the exterior of the vehicle and may further include additional instructions. The connection does not simply dump material into the vehicle, but routs around internal components of the vehicle to distribution heads that are tuned to provide varying amounts of fire suppressing material to different parts of the vehicle and or battery compartment. The connection is pressurized by the vehicle or house to push water chemicals or other fire suppressing media. The system may distribute Nobel or other gases to remove or displace oxygen and starve the fire of oxygen.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2015Publication date: December 1, 2016Inventors: Bradley Dean Carson, Dale Elliott Carson

Patent number: 9371020Abstract: Improvements in a moveable stanchion pole for a wheel chair position in a transit bus to provide a connection to a seat or bench. The seat is pivotably secured to a side wall of the transportation vehicle. The pole rotates and or pivots as the seat or bench is moved. The stanchion pole allows a person to hold onto the pole while they are standing. When the pole is rotated the pole rotates to provide clearance to the area. The stanchion pole is connected to the front of the chair and lifts the stanchion pole as the chair is rotated. This requires the stanchion pole to both hinge and rotate with the bench. The movement of the chair and pole clears the occupied space of the seat and stanchion pole to allow for a wheelchair to occupy the same place where the chair previously existed.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2014Date of Patent: June 21, 2016Inventors: Dale Elliott Carson, Bradley Dean Carson, Macy Masoud Neshati

Patent number: 8910031Abstract: A block CRC based fast data hash provides efficient data integrity verification functions. A hash word is generated from block CRCs that are stored along with data blocks in a hard drive for each data and/or parity track of a storage system, such as a RAID array. Each storage system member writes the hash word into a global memory. Thereafter, a director verifies data integrity using all member's hash words with one or more XOR operations. Use of the hash words for data integrity verification saves system bandwidth and CPU processing resources.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2011Date of Patent: December 9, 2014Assignee: EMC CorporationInventors: ZhiGang Liu, Dale Elliott, Stephen Richard Ives, Shen Liu, Andrew Chanler
