  • Patent number: 10993056
Abstract: A method for programming a hearing assistance device includes entering an audiogram into the memory of a mobile computing device, wherein the audiogram indicates a hearing loss profile of a user of the hearing assistance device. Based on the audiogram, the mobile computing device determines a preferred hearing correction algorithm for the user and transfers the preferred algorithm to the memory of the hearing assistance device, which also contains one or more preloaded hearing correction algorithms. During an initial setup procedure, the user listens to sounds amplified by the hearing assistance device while switching between the preferred algorithm and the preloaded algorithms, and selects the algorithm that sounds best for continued use in the hearing assistance device.

  • Patent number: 9820064
Abstract: Methods are disclosed for forming a decorative faceplate for attachment to an ear insert. An impression medium is first inserted into an ear for forming an impression of at least a portion of the ear concha and ear canal. An initial ear insert is formed based on the impression, which insert has an inner portion configured for insertion into the ear canal and an outer portion configured to be disposed in the ear concha and to face outward away from the ear. The outer portion further includes a faceplate attachment area having a perimeter edge that is configured to receive a faceplate. A model of the perimeter edge is generated, and a faceplate is formed from a faceplate material using the model as a guide. A final ear insert is formed, and the faceplate is attached to the faceplate attachment area of the final ear insert.

  • Patent number: 9031272
Abstract: A hearing assistance device has one multipurpose control device that operates in an algorithm selection mode and a daily use mode. In the algorithm selection mode, the multipurpose control device is used to switch between amplification algorithms and select one of the algorithms to be implemented in an audio processing program. In the daily use mode, the multipurpose control device is used to adjust the volume of sound generated by an audio output section. A battery compartment door of the device has an open position in which the device is powered off, and a closed position in which the device is powered on. The multipurpose control device and the battery compartment door are the only user-operable controls on the hearing assistance device for controlling the device and powering the device on or off. No other controls are needed for adjusting volume, selecting algorithms, and switching between and selecting programs.

  • Patent number: 9004798
Abstract: A golf tee insertion depth measurement tool provides a gauge to facilitate marking the shaft of a golf tee to indicate a desired insertion depth that provides an optimum height for a golf ball placed on the tee, which ball is to be struck by a club face having a height H. The tool has a base portion and an elongate stem portion having a stem length. The base portion has a first surface and a second surface. The stem portion is connected to the base portion and extends outwardly away from the second surface of the base portion. The stem portion is first marked along its length at a location corresponding to the club face height H above the ground. The shaft of a tee is then marked at a location corresponding to the marked location on the stem portion to provide the correct insertion depth for the tee.
