  • Patent number: 12239797
Abstract: A catheter (1) comprises a jacket (20, 33) and defining a lumen, and extends distally towards a tip (30, 31). The catheter has a helical support (20) within the jacket for at least some of the length of the jacket. The catheter distal end has a plurality of portions of different configurations for different bending and/or pushability characteristics. These may be according to different helical supports and the manner in which they are interwoven, and/or different liners with lap joints. There may be a hydrophilic coating.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 4, 2025
    Assignee: Perfuze Limited
Inventors: Liam Mullins, Dara Finneran, Evin Donnelly, Eoghan Thornton, Kieran Connolly
  • Patent number: 11672639
Abstract: A vascular filter device (1) has a support (2) for engaging the wall of a blood vessel. A filter has filter elements (5) having proximal segments (10) connected to the support (3) and distal segments at least temporarily restrained at a distal apex (7) by a holder when in a filtering closed position. At least one filter element (5) extends radially outwardly with respect to a device longitudinal axis when unconstrained. The filter element may extend in a curve with a concave portion facing radially outwardly in an unconstrained configuration.

Date of Patent: June 13, 2023
    Assignee: Novate Medical Limited
Inventors: Paul Gilson, Steven Horan, Karl Keating, Dara Finneran, Jacqueline O'Gorman, Damien Ryan, Megan Macdonagh, Paul Bateman

  • Patent number: 11197977
Abstract: A catheter has a jacket (10, 11, 5) defining a lumen and a helical support (6). The catheter has a proximal portion (1) and a distal portion (3), the distal portion having for at least some of its length a corrugated outer surface. A transition portion has a flexural stiffness which is less than that of the distal portion and more than that of the proximal portion. The transition portion provides an optimum transition in flexural stiffness by way of features of the jacket including geometry of jacket corrugations (15), or overlapping tubular layers (1073, 1074). The distal end of the distal portion may have an extension of liner material folded over (1072, 1082) to provide a particularly soft tip. In other examples the liner is terminated (763) before the distal tip. The catheter is particularly suited to an aspiration device (1350) with a flow restrictor (1353) and the distal portion distal of the flow restrictor.
