  • Patent number: 11890873
Abstract: An inkjet printer detects vibrations within the printer and compensates for the detected vibrations by adjusting a gap between the printheads and the media transport. Additionally, the inkjet printer detects media sheet heights that may cause damage as they pass through the print zone of the printer and adjusts the gap to enable the media sheets to pass through the print zone without contacting the printheads. A method of operating an inkjet printer so configured is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 11822832
Abstract: Techniques for operating a digital printer that includes a media transport and an electronic imager disposed in a path of the media transport are presented. The techniques include: receiving an electronic image of a media sheet obtained by the electronic imager; identifying, from the electronic image of the media sheet, a print-prohibited region of the media sheet; generating a mask representing the print-prohibited region of the media sheet; and electronically storing in electronic persistent memory, in association with an identification of a type of the media sheet, a template comprising information regarding the media sheet type, where the template includes an identification of the print-prohibited region represented by the mask.

  • Patent number: 11801680
Abstract: A method of operating a printer iteratively performs printhead purges and test pattern analysis until either every printhead has a number of inoperative inkjets that is less than a predetermined threshold or a maximum number of iterations is reached. An error message is generated for each printhead having a number of inoperative inkjets that is greater than the predetermined threshold. The iterative performance of the printhead purges and test pattern analysis is performed automatically prior to the commencement of printing operations with the printer to remove subjective and time-consuming analysis by a printer operator.

  • Patent number: 11797767
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for generating multiple scanned files when scanning a document. The method includes receiving a document for scanning from a user. Once received, a user interface is displayed to the user to input one or more keywords based on which multiple scanned files are to be generated. A single scanned file is generated in a pre-defined format. One or more pages having the keywords as input by the user are identified from the scanned file. Based on the one or more identified pages having the keywords input by the user, separate multiple scanned files are automatically generated. As a result, a single scan activity performed by the user generates multiple scanned files.

  • Publication number: 20230068167
Abstract: A processor identifies print defect locations where printing defects occur and a assigns different sensitivity values to different zones of a job image being prepared for printing by a printing engine. The processor changes the orientation of the job image to a revised orientation, relative to print media, to avoid locating one or more high-sensitivity zones of the job image in the print defect locations. The high-sensitivity zones are ones of the zones having a sensitivity value above a threshold sensitivity value. The printing engine prints the job image on the print media at the revised orientation.

  • Patent number: 11556597
Abstract: The disclosure discloses methods and systems for automatically generating multiple scanned files when scanning a document at a multi-function device. The method includes receiving a multi-page document for scanning from a user. A user interface is provided to the user to input one or more keywords and one or more desired resolution values, where the input resolution values are different from a default resolution value set at the multi-function device. A page of the document is scanned to generate a scanned page of a default resolution value. The scanned page is checked if including the one or more input keywords. Accordingly, the default resolution value of the page is converted to the user desired resolution value. The scanning, checking, and converting are repeated till all the pages of the document are scanned. Multiple scanned files of different resolution values are automatically generated from single scan activity.

  • Patent number: 11394835
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for securing a portable storage device connected to a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port of a mufti-function device. The method includes determining if the portable storage device is unattended at the multi-function device for a pre-defined time. Based on the determination, a retraction assembly is activated to secure the portable storage device inside the multi-function device. Once the retraction assembly is activated, the retraction process starts where the portable storage device is retracted to a first position within the multi-function device. Then, the portable storage device is moved from the first position to a second position within the multi-function device. Thereafter, the portable storage device is detached, in the second position, from the USB port to a container of the retraction assembly to secure the portable storage device.

  • Patent number: 11340852
Abstract: The disclosure discloses methods and systems for keyword-based printing. The method includes receiving a request for printing a document from a user. Upon receiving the request, a user interface including a keyword-based printing option is provided to the user. The keyword-based printing option allows the user to input one or more keywords. Based on the one or more input keywords, one or more pages from the document having the one or more matching keywords are identified. The pages identified to include the one or more keywords are excluded and the remaining pages of the document are printed.

  • Patent number: 11327700
Abstract: Various systems and methods maintain a print job of a user in a print queue and identify the user approaching a printing device using a user identification device operatively connected to the printing device. Such systems/methods alter the position of the print job within the print queue (e.g., to a higher priority position) or even begin printing the print job when the user identification device identifies the user approaching the printing device (i.e., before the user reaches the printing device). Systems and methods can also identify the urgency of the user using the user identification device. The amount that the print queue is altered can be based on the amount that the urgency of the user is elevated.

  • Patent number: 11310385
Abstract: A divider separates an enclosure into separate compartments that are shaped and sized to maintain sheets of media. A connector is positioned at a first end of the enclosure and the connector is shaped to connect to a document handler. The compartments are positioned to supply and receive the sheets of media to and from the document handler when the enclosure is connected to the document handler. A cover is positioned at the first end of the enclosure. The cover is adapted to open and close and allows access to the compartments. A lock is connected to the cover. The lock maintains the cover in a closed position when locked.

  • Patent number: 10589950
Abstract: A gravity-assisted registration system suited to use in a printing device includes a transport member with a surface on which an associated sheet is translated in a process direction. The surface defines an angle with respect to horizontal in a cross-process direction. A registration wall, adjacent a lower end of the surface, defines a registration edge for registering the sheet. A drive mechanism drives at least one rotation mechanism, for translating sheet in the process direction, each rotation mechanism including at least one drive member with an axis of rotation parallel to the surface in the cross-process direction, Each drive member includes a sliding mechanism, at a periphery of the drive member, enabling the sheet to slide, under gravity, on the surface, toward the registration wall into an alignment position, in contact with the registration wall.
