Abstract: Methods and apparatus of classifying received email are provided. At least one initial desirability scan is performed on a received email. When the received email passes the at least one initial desirability scan, it is determined if the received email comprises one or more browser-interpretable scripts. When the received email comprises one or more browser-interpretable scripts, a secondary desirability scan is performed on the received email as a function of the one or more browser-interpretable scripts. The received email is identified as undesirable email when the received email fails the at least one initial desirability scan, or the received email fails the secondary desirability scan. The received e-mail is identified as desirable email when the received email does not comprise one or more browser-interpretable scripts or the received email passes the secondary desirability scan.

Abstract: Techniques for automatically designing an application-requirement based configuration for a distributed computing system are provided. One or more application-level templates are obtained, wherein the one or more templates are representative of one or more requirements associated with one or more applications. Using the one or more application-level templates, one or more logical flows are created. The one or more logical flows are then used to generate one or more system-level configuration plans of the distributed computing system.

An index or reference is generated in the IU for retrieving the persisted sub-information units during processing.

Abstract: A multi-plan generation system generates a multi-plan for a multi-layer storage area network. The system generates a predetermined number of plans while generating and retaining globally optimum plans. The system dynamically calculates and orders these plans according to optimization criteria and user requirements. The system comprises a planner for each of the layers in a storage area network such as a host planner, a storage planner, a network planner, a zone planner, etc. Each of the planners applies a variance optimization, a preview optimization, and a detail optimization and interacts with a policy repository to obtain policy guidance, enabling the system to prune the set of plans. A control module invokes the planners in a predetermined order.

According to one aspect, the system and method guarantee, control and deliver TCP connection-based workload SLA's to customers whose applications are hosted by the server farm with the use of a workload regulator that operates by regulating only new TCP connection request packets while transparently passing existing TCP connection packets and other request packets received for customers.

Abstract: A system, method and program product for freeing tape drives so that long running jobs on a computer can be paused when other applications need the drives and restarted when the drives are available again. This is accomplished by pausing and resuming applications running on a computer including accessing a tape drive, on which is mounted a first tape, by a first application running on the computer, the accessing being through a pause/resume handler; pausing the first application responsive to an operator intervention to the pause/resume handler; storing parameters in the computer including location parameters indicating where the tape drive paused; mounting a second tape on the tape drive; and accessing the tape drive by a second application running on the computer. After the second application has completed access to the tape drive, the second tape is removed from the tape drive, and the first tape is remounted.
