  • Publication number: 20200195748
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method that includes obtaining metadata from media content and consumed by network subscribers; determining for each network subscriber a consumer context associated with the media content; and determining a media consumption pattern for each network subscriber based on the metadata and the consumer context, thereby generating a plurality of media consumption patterns. The method further includes aggregating the media consumption patterns; determining, based on the aggregated media consumption patterns, a media consumption trend for the network subscribers; and correlating the media consumption trend with a profile including a current activity for a network subscriber of the plurality of network subscribers, thereby generating a recommendation for the network subscriber regarding new media content not previously consumed by the network subscriber. • Publication number: 20200137454
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a system and method for selecting media content for a group of persons located at a venue. The system and method identify a plurality of viewers in a vicinity of a venue that has one or more display devices from location data and extracts a content viewing preference of each viewer from their profile data. The process includes aggregating the content viewing preference of each of the plurality of viewers to generate an aggregated content profile. Based on the aggregated content profile, a list of content is generated. Next, a first group of viewers approaching a viewing range of a display device are sensed by imaging data. Any conflicts between content viewing preferences of the first group of viewers are detected and resolved based on weighting the viewing preferences of the group. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20200077322
Abstract: A mobile device that incorporates the subject disclosure may perform, for example, operations including requesting transport characteristics of a network coupled to a server and to the device according to a trajectory of the device. Data packets are transported to the mobile device according to a dynamic adaptive streaming over hypertext transfer protocol. The operations include obtaining the current transport characteristics of the network and predicting a future transport characteristic of the network, according to the trajectory of the device. A time is scheduled for sending a request to the server for transmission over the network of a data packet. The time can be scheduled according to the current and future transport characteristics of the network, to avoid degradation in quality of media content presented by the device. The data packet received responsive to sending the request is buffered for a future presentation of the media content. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20200051321
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, analyzing video content obtained from a 360 degree camera to discern a point of interest in the video content and obtaining information about a viewer of the video content. A field of view is predicted based on the information about the viewer and the analysis of the video content. Less than 180 degrees of the video content centered on the predicted field of view is sent to equipment of the viewer. A monitored line of sight of the viewer is obtained based upon eye movements of the viewer relative to an orientation of the viewer. The analysis is updated based on the monitored line of sight and the predicted field of view is updated based on the updated analysis. Other embodiments are disclosed.

A multimedia database having multimedia data including multimedia content data is searched based on a user query to determine a first set of multimedia data. The multimedia data includes indexes to and condensed representations of corresponding video data stored in a video database. A portion of the first set of multimedia data is displayed at a control device in response to the user query. A user of the control device selects an element of the first set of multimedia data for video playback and video data corresponding to the element delivered to a video device for playback. A user of the control device selects an element of the first set of multimedia data for additional information and a second set of multimedia data corresponding to the element delivered to the control device.
