  • Patent number: 5119993
Abstract: An improved portable, self-contained apparatus for spreading particulate material that can, by use of alternate flow improvement and control mechanisms, be used to dispense either dusts (such as insecticides) or granular materials such as fertilizer. The apparatus has a detachable container portion and a dispensing portion which includes, in a chamber, a rotary vane turned by a battery-powered motor, a recurved channel leading from the blower chamber to an outlet nozzle, and a triggering and activation assembly which sequentially activates first the motor and the rotary vane and then the flow improvement and control mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5093184
Abstract: This invention is concerned with security paper for bank notes, cheques and like documents in a security strip of enhanced security which is more difficult to counterfeit than the present bank notes containing window threads.

  • Patent number: 4730707
Abstract: For automobile drum brakes of the simplex and duo-duplex forms of construction, each having two brake shoes (10) floatingly mounted on a brake bracket (1), a special support is proposed for the one end of the brake shoe web (10) of each brake shoe (8), this support being constituted basically of a support pin (26) rotatable about its central axis, which possesses a recessed bearing surface, on which a corresponding counter-surface (35) of the brake shoe web (10) is slidably journalled. The new support makes possible the maintaining of a constant brake coefficient throughout the full range of wear of the brake lining (12).

  • Patent number: 4718064
Abstract: An automatic test system for both production and trouble shooting evaluation of various computer peripheral controller devices. The automatic test system includes a central processing unit, a receiver card adapted to receive a particular type of peripheral controller-under-test and a peripheral emulator. The automatic test system may be employed in the testing of a wide range of peripheral controller devices by utilizing differing receiver cards adapted to each specific kind of peripheral under test. In operation command and data signals are sent from the processor to the controller-under-test through the receiver card, causing the controller-under-test to send modified command and data signals to the peripheral emulator. The central processor then accesses memory in the peripheral emulator to ascertain if the controller-under-test sent the proper commands and data.

  • Patent number: 4704611
Abstract: A directive antenna (for a groundstation or a satellite) has a plurality of discrete receptional states which provide predetermined electronic displacements from boresight of the optimum direction of reception. The direction of the target is obtained by rapid switching from one receptional mode to another. The receptional modes are preferably provided by switchable mode converters, e.g. 6A, 6B, 7A and 7B, which are coupled with the waveguide so as to convert higher order propagation modes, e.g. TM01, TE21(H) and TE21(V), to the fundamental.

  • Patent number: 4432285
Abstract: A multipurpose container for the exigent storage of an explosive device found aboard an aircraft is provided which comprises a bucket-shaped member having a laminated wall structure of at least three metal layers and two foamed plastic layers between the confronting surfaces of the metal layers, and a detachable lid for said member defining a wall portion for said container of foamed plastic only, the laminations providing effective shock wave attenuation and directing a shock wave preferentially in the direction of the lid.

  • Patent number: 4360086
Abstract: A brake assembly wherein a reciprocable wedge actuator projects into an actuator housing containing two oppositely slidable brake shoe associated plungers disposed in aligned bores having a common axis and a fluid pressure motor unit has a tubular support by which it is mounted on the housing with the wedge actuator extending between a fluid pressure responsive element of said motor and the inner ends of said plungers, the housing having a bore into which the tubular support extends, flange means on the tubular support and on the housing concentric with the bore, one of the flange means comprising a plurality of circumferentially spaced lugs, and a split lock ring having means extending radially inward from each edge to engage the flange means and secure the tubular support to the housing.
