    Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems directed to a network traffic synchronization mechanism facilitating the deployment of network devices in redundant network topologies. In certain embodiments, when a first network device directly receives network traffic, it copies the network traffic and transmits it to at least one partner network device. The partner network device processes the copied network traffic, just as if it had received it directly, but, in one embodiment, discards the traffic before forwarding it on to its destination. In one embodiment, the partner network devices are operative to exchange directly received network traffic. As a result, the present invention provides enhanced reliability and seamless failover. Each unit, for example, is ready at any time to take over for the other unit should a failure occur.

    Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems allowing for dynamic bandwidth management schemes responsive to the state of a plurality of access links in redundant network topologies. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a bandwidth management device that periodically queries routing systems associated with access links, conceptually grouped into a virtual access link, to monitor that load of the access links and, depending on the detected load, adjust the configuration of the bandwidth management device to avoid overloading one or more of the access links. Embodiments of the present invention increases network efficiency and help network traffic to flow more smoothly with higher throughput. In one embodiment, the dynamic link control functionality is invoked when any given access link reaches a threshold capacity level.

The two-stage completion genetic algorithm that includes genotype and phenotype completion loops. The genotype completion loop operates to compete the current population data set based on genotype field fitness scores. The genotype completion loop also implements a phenogenesis operator used to generate a current phenotype set. The phenotype completion loop operates, concurrently with the genotype completion loop, to evaluate the current phenotype set, constrained relative to the current population data set, against a fitness function to produce phenotype fitness scores. The phenotype completion loop implements a genotype reduction operator that then determines corresponding genotype fitness scores for use as the basis for competition in the genotype completion loop.

    Abstract: A method of joining surfaces comprising: providing a first surface comprising a layer of silver; interposing between the first surface and a second surface a eutectic composite which melts below 140° C.; raising the temperature of the eutectic composite to a first temperature above the eutectic temperature to at least partially melt the eutectic composite and form molten eutectic alloy; and contacting the molten eutectic alloy with silver layer of the first surface so as to cause inter-diffusion and reaction between the eutectic alloy and the silver, wherein the relative proportions of silver and eutectic composite are selected such that a non-eutectic composition forms between silver and the metals contained in the eutectic composite, the non-eutectic composition having a melting temperature higher than said first temperature.

    Abstract: A push-pull coupling for coupling a valve spool to a coaxial cable includes a lost-motion connection which operatively disconnects the coaxial cable from the valve spool when in a first mode and positively connects the coaxial cable to the valve spool when in a second mode. Switching from the first mode to the second mode is accomplished by energizing an electromagnetic actuator within the coupling which locks components to one another to transmit push and pull motion. When the actuator is deenergized, the components move relative to one another, disconnecting the coaxial cable from the valve spool. The push-pull coupling is used in hydraulic machines to prevent operation of hydraulic cylinders when a driver is not seated on the machine so as to close a seat operated switch which energizes the electromagnetic actuator.

Alternatively, the support spine may be formed as a separate material having a flexural modulus which is greater than the flexural modulus of the thermoplastic sheet so as to stiffen the panel during handling, installation and use; the separate support spine is fastened or bonded to the rear of the panel, or coextruded.

    Abstract: A heater for radiant heating of an object in a heating tunnel, furnace or the like has a layer of ceramic fibers through which a fuel/air mixture is fed for combustion at the surface and use of the heater as a gas burner. Partly embedded in the surface is an electrical-resistance heater which is heated up by the burner action and then can be energized to provide controlled heating of the object when the gas is shut off. A flow of cooling air through the heater can terminate the heating operation and rapidly quench the heater.

    Abstract: A furnace for the heat treating of glass, has a housing defining an elongated furnace chamber having opposite longitudinal sides and having an inlet end and an outlet end. A roller conveyor extends between the inlet end and the outlet end. The roller conveyor has a respective row of stub rollers spaced apart along each longitudinal side of the chamber, and respective conveyor rollers spanning the rows of stub rollers and cradled thereby. A respective idler pulley is disposed between each two successive stub rollers along one of the longitudinal sides of the chamber, the idler pulleys lying in a further row below the row of stub rollers. An endless drive element overshoots two successive stub rollers of the section in a respective single loop and undershoots each of the pulleys in a respective single loop between each of the two successive stub rollers to reduce the required driving power.
