    Abstract: An electric power apparatus includes a main planar body having a circular opening that supports a brushless direct-current (BLDC) motor. The motor includes a stator, a rotor, a motor spindle extending through the circular opening, a first end cap formed on a first side of the stator and mounted on the main planar body; and a second end cap formed on a second side of the stator and secured to the first end cap to form a substantially watertight seal around the stator and the rotor. A ratio of a maximum power output of the motor when powered by at least one battery pack to a height of the motor as measured from an upper surface of the main planar body to a top surface of the motor is greater than or equal to approximately 34 watts/mm.

    Abstract: An environmental control system for the severely disabled provides a "pass through" mode that allows a system output to mimic or emulate a user controlled switch input. The pass through mode permits a single user controlled switch to be shared among multiple systems for the disabled. In the normal mode, the user controlled switch controls various control functions provided by the environmental control system. In the "pass through" mode, the environmental control system operates "transparently" and passes the switch closures through to an electronically-controlled switch that appears electrically like a manually actuated switch to control other equipment for the disabled. The pass through mode is exited upon user actuation of the user controlled switch for more than a programmed time period and/or automatically upon occurrence of certain events (e.g., telephone ringing detection).

    Abstract: A conventional low pressure coolant injection system for boiling water reactors is provided. With the modification, the cross tie conduits and associated valves remain open between two LPCI divisions. On the occasion of an LOCA, the LPCI pumps are activated and injection valves for each of the LPCI divisions are opened to commence coolant injection in the recirculation loops in simultaneous fashion. However, the rate of flow of water coolant within each injection system is controlled by a hydraulic resistance, which is selected to achieve reactor core cooling within requisite time and in requisite quantities from one injection path. Thus, even though coolant water may flow through a rupture within one recirculation loops, sufficient water will be injected in the other loop to achieve core cooling.
