  • Patent number: 11147689
Abstract: An acetabular cup remover with a blade for removing tissue adjacent an acetabular cup. The blade is oscillated against an arcuate section of tissue. Once a section of tissue is cut, an indexing assembly rotates the blade. The blade is again oscillated to cut a new arcuate section of tissue.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 7, 2019
Date of Patent: October 19, 2021
    Assignee: Stryker Corporation

  • Patent number: 6960894
Abstract: A powered tool for performing surgical procedures. The tool includes a handpiece in which a power generating unit is housed. A control member is mounted to the handpiece. The control member is mounted to the handpiece so that the orientation of the control member can be selectively set relative to the point to which it is mounted to the handpiece and so it can move relative to a reference point on the handpiece. A control module monitors the orientation of the control member and its position relative to the reference point. Based on the control member orientation and position, the control module generates signals to regulate the operation of the power generating unit. When the power generating unit is a motor, the control module generates signals to ensure that the maximum speed at which the motor can be driven is less than the no load speed.

  • Patent number: 6113618
Abstract: A saw blade (12) for use with a surgical saw (10). The surgical saw has a head (18) that is driven in a oscillating motion in order to cause like motion in the saw blade. The saw blade has a base (22) that is dimensioned to be inserted into a slot (24) in the front of the saw head. The base has a width less than the width of the slot to facilitate the easy insertion/removal of the saw blade. The saw blade also has a main section (36) formed integrally with the base (22) that has the cutting surface of the blade. The saw blade is further formed to have springs (42) that extend from the sides of the base. When the blade is inserted in the slot (24), the springs abut the interior walls (25) of the head that define the slot. A gap (48) separates each leaf spring from the adjacent side of the base.

  • Patent number: 5431654
Abstract: Apparatus for injecting bone cement from a cartridge in orthopedic surgery having a body and structure supporting a bone cement containing cartridge on the body. A trigger structure is actuable for movement on the body. Ram structure is advanceable on the body in response to actuation of the trigger structure for forcing bone cement from the cartridge toward a surgical site. Structure interposed between the trigger structure and ram structure is actuable for changing, between a lower force value and a higher force value, the force appliable by the ram to the cartridge in response to a given actuation of the trigger structure.
