Publication number: 20120141073Abstract: The present document describes an optical interconnect module for interfacing optical fibers. An optical interconnect module in accordance with an embodiment comprises a casing including a projection and an optical sub-assembly including an interlock portion for receiving the projection of the casing. The optical sub-assembly carries a plurality of optical fibers, and couples face to face with an optical cable assembly for aligning the corresponding fibers together. The optical cable assembly is usually provided in an optical cable connector, along with a spring which compresses when the optical cable connector is inserted in the optical interconnect module. The pressure provided by the spring is transmitted to the optical sub-assembly. The optical sub-assembly applies this pressure to the projection received in the notch thereof for maintaining a tight engagement with the optical cable assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 1, 2010Publication date: June 7, 2012Applicant: Reflex Photonics inc.Inventors: Richard Mainardi, David R. Publication number: 20030123801Abstract: The optical wavelength switch/filter device controls propagation of an optical signal through first and second optical fibers. A biconical taper is formed of fused and stretched portions of the first and second optical fibers, and Erbium atoms dope at least the biconical taper of the first and second optical fibers. The first optical fiber defines, on a first side of the biconical taper, a first optical signal input supplied with the optical signal. The first and second optical fibers define, on a second side of the biconical taper opposite to the first side, first and second outputs, respectively. The second optical fiber defines, on the first side, a second pump light beam input supplied with a 980-nm pump light beam in order to control a propagation characteristic of the optical signal from the first input to the first and second outputs through the biconical taper. An additional biconical taper can be formed on the optical fibers to define a Mach-Zehnder fiber interferometer structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2002Publication date: July 3, 2003Inventor: David R. Patent number: 4305057Abstract: A Heads-Up Display system which displays an attitude reference to pilots in order to provide a reference display system as a primary flight instrument. The Heads-up Display system uses a pitch ladder system based on Euler angle data which eliminates the erratic motion or "flip-flop" of the typical pitch ladder which is inherent and unavoidable when pitching near plus or minus 90.degree., by utilizing a flexible graphics display which presents the pilot with a heads-up view as if he were located inside and at the center of an imaginary sphere which has heading and pitch angle information marked on its inner surface. The display of appropriately curved bars as opposed to a straight bar pitch ladder for attitude reference more realistically depicts to the pilot the aircraft situation relative to the outside world. This presentation is more easily and more reliably interpreted by the pilot and simplifies the recognition and recovery from unusual attitudes.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1979Date of Patent: December 8, 1981Assignee: McDonnell Douglas CorporationInventor: David R.
