  • Patent number: 10842502
Abstract: A system for reducing the damaging effects of radiant energy, blast, or concussive events includes applying pressure to at least one jugular vein to reduce the egress of blood from the cranial cavity during or before the incidence of the imparting event. Reducing blood outflow from the cranial cavity increases intracranial volume and/or pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid to reduce the risk of traumatic brain injury and injuries to the spinal column. Reducing blood outflow further increases the intracranial pressure and volume, and thereby increases the pressure and volume of the cochlear fluid, the vitreous humor and the cerebrospinal fluid to thereby reduce the risk of injury to the inner ear, internal structure of the eye and of the spinal column. In addition, increasing intracranial pressure and volume reduces the likelihood of brain injury and any associated loss of olfactory function.

  • Publication number: 20190193994
Abstract: A knockdown, portable lift is relatively compact and lightweight for transport and use where there is no existing means for lifting a load between a lower surface and an upper surface or where the existing means cannot be used. Components of the lift are stored in a base portion of the lift and are assembled on site for forming a lift frame extending between the upper and lower surfaces. A platform and drive assembly are supported on the lift frame and are driven together up and down tracks on each side of the lift frame using a rotary drive, such as a hand crank or electric motor, to power the drive assembly. The drive assembly is operable by a person on or off the platform from either the upper or lower surface or traversing stairs over which the platform is moving. The drive assembly incorporates a unique overspeed braking system and a unique clutch arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20180133419
Abstract: A pressure support system for delivering a flow of breathing gas to a patient includes a pressure generating base unit including a gas flow generator and a controller, a patient interface device for delivering the flow of breathing gas to the airway of the patient, and a degradation monitor apparatus including a control unit and an indicator apparatus. The controller is structured to generate data indicative of a degradation metric based on use of the pressure support system and to communicate the data indicative of the degradation metric to the degradation monitor apparatus. The control unit of the degradation monitor apparatus is structured to cause the indicator apparatus to generate a human perceptible indication based on the data indicative of the degradation metric when the degradation metric indicates that a component of the patient interface device demonstrates at least a threshold level of degradation.
