    Abstract: A control system for controlling the supply of oil to a turbocharger fitted to an internal combustion comprises an oil supply valve (21) controlled by a controller (20) and at least one sensor (23-28) for monitoring a parameter associated with the existence or potential occurrence of a leak in the turbocharger oil supply, or of a condition potentially resulting in such a leak. The controller (20) is operable to determine the existence or possible occurrence of an oil leak in the turbocharger oil supply in response to a signal received from the sensor (23-28) and to close the oil supply control valve (21) in the event of said determination to cut off the oil supply to the turbocharger.

    Abstract: A liner assembly for an internal combustion engine includes a liner bore in an engine block which receives a cylinder liner having an end extension which is received in an annular cylinder head groove. The end extension of the cylinder liner includes a outer circumferential surface thereon which is formed to define a very small gap with the outer circumferential surface of the cylinder head groove; the inner circumferential surface of the upper end is radially spaced from the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder head groove to form an annular seal space for a radial seal that is captured between the upper end and the cylinder head to form an active combustion gas seal between the cylinder liner and the cylinder head.

    Abstract: A compression braking system for an internal combustion engine is provided which includes a compact housing disposed adjacent the fuel injecting actuating assembly and the exhaust valve actuating assembly for each cylinder of the engine. The housing is provided with a first cavity in which is reciprocally mounted a first piston having one end thereof protruding from one end of the first cavity and being engaged and moved by the fuel injecting actuating assembly. A second cavity is formed in the housing in a proximate angular relation with the first cavity. Reciprocally mounted within the second cavity is a second piston having one end thereof protruding from one end of the second cavity and engaging and moving the exhaust valve actuating assembly to releases compression pressure within the cylinder and provide retarding power when the engine is in the compression braking mode.

    Abstract: A turbocharged internal combustion engine is provided in which the exterior of one side of the engine block has a cavity formed therein. A head is secured to the block and overlies the cylinders formed therein. The head is provided with an internal intake passageway and an internal exhaust passageway for each cylinder formed in the block. One end of each intake passageway communicates with the cavity and one end of each exhaust passageway terminates at the exterior of the head in proximity to the cavity formed in the block. A heat exchange assembly is disposed adjacent the cavity and is provided with a housing which is mounted on the block one side and in overlying relation with the cavity. The housing is provided with an inlet and an outlet spaced therefrom. A heat transfer means is disposed within the housing and is located between the inlet and outlet thereof. The housing outlet communicates with the cavity.
