  • Patent number: 7431355
Abstract: A latch mechanism for a sash window assembly includes a housing having a top surface with an opening therein and a latch bolt moveable between an extended position and a retracted position. The latch bolt is slidably supported by two clips depending from the housing. A biasing spring biases the bolt toward the extended position. A retaining member is also attached to the housing. A portion of the retaining member extends into the bolt to retain the bolt to the housing. An actuator connected to the bolt is accessible through the opening in the housing. The actuator can be manipulated by a user to move the bolt between the extended position and the retracted position.

  • Publication number: 20070234642
Abstract: A casement window assembly has a sash window pivotally connected to a window frame. A window operator has a housing connected to the frame, including an upper and lower piece connected together. The housing has an offset countersink hole receiving a fastener. A spindle extends into the housing and has a groove therein. An arm is operably connected to the spindle and to the sash window to open and close the sash window. A resilient seal member is received within the groove in the spindle. A first gasket is positioned between the upper piece and the lower piece of the housing. A second gasket is positioned between the housing and the window frame. When the fastener is driven into the countersink hole, the housing is forced in a generally horizontal direction to compress the second gasket between the housing and the window frame.

  • Publication number: 20070048837
Abstract: Processes for conjugating proteins with polyethylene glycol are disclosed. The disclosed processes provide modified proteins having little or no decrease in their activity and include the steps of deleting at least one amino acid residue on the protein, replacing the at least one amino acid residue with an amino acid residue that does not react with polyethylene glycol, and contacting the protein with polyethylene glycol under conditions sufficient to conjugate the polyethylene glycol to the protein. This advantageous retention of a desired protein activity is attributed to the availability of one or more protein binding sites which is unaltered in the conjugation process and thus remains free to interact with a binding partner ligand or cognate subsequent to the conjugation process.
