  • Patent number: 10041323
Abstract: An apparatus to define a shoulder within equipment includes a pin assembly and an actuator. The pin assembly includes a pin assembly housing with a passage formed therethrough, a pin movably positionable, at least partially, within the passage of the pin assembly housing, an outer stop to limit outward movement of the pin within the passage of the pin assembly housing, and an inner stop to limit inward movement of the pin within the passage of the pin assembly housing. The actuator is operably coupled to the pin assembly such that the actuator is capable of moving the pin within the pin assembly housing of the pin assembly.

  • Patent number: 9765582
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that may include employing a lockscrew to provide radial and axial force in connecting tubular members in a mineral extraction system. The lockscrew may be angled relative to the tubular members, at an angle that is greater than 0 degrees and less than 90 degrees. Further, the lockscrew may have an end portion which mates with a slot in a locking segment, and the lockscrew and locking segment may be moved from an unlocked to a locked position. In a locked position, the lockscrew exerts force axially downward and radially inward to push the locking segment against a tubular member, locking the member in place. The interconnection between the lockscrew and the locking segment may enable easier installation and may utilize parts which may be easier to manufacture. Furthermore, the angle of the lockscrew may provide improved support for tubular members.

  • Patent number: 9719312
Abstract: An adjustable mudline suspension system, including a tubing hanger having an exterior profile, a clamp having an inner profile to mate with the exterior profile of the tubing hanger, a biasing element to bias the clamp radially inward into an engaged position where the inner and exterior profiles are mated, and a piston to bias the clamp radially outward into a disengaged position where the inner and exterior profiles are not mated when hydraulically actuated. The weight of the tubing hanger is supported by the adjustable mudline suspension system when the interior profile of the clamp mates with the exterior profile of the hanger.

  • Patent number: 9347280
Abstract: An adjustable riser suspension system for suspending a riser under tension including a riser hanger, a mating sleeve rotationally coupled to the riser hanger, a ratchet-latch sleeve located inside the mating sleeve with an external profile configured to engage an internal profile of the mating sleeve and an internal profile configured to engage an externally threaded face of the riser. The riser hanger and mating sleeve are configured to move downward relative to the riser such that the mating sleeve fits over at least a portion of the riser, causing the ratchet-latch device to ratchet over the external threads of the riser. The mating sleeve is configured to rotate relative to the riser, causing the internal and external profiles of ratchet-latch device to lock the riser and the mating sleeve to prevent movement of the riser relative to the mating sleeve.

  • Patent number: 9273530
Abstract: In accordance with an exemplary embodiment, a tubing hanger having an angled auxiliary bore is provided. The auxiliary bore may receive a penetrator for a cabling system that powers a submersible pump. The auxiliary bore is angled with respect to the production bore of the tubing hanger. As a result, the penetrator exits the lower end of the tubing hanger at a location relatively close to the production tubing. This facilitates the use of a smaller-diameter production casing or casing hanger, in turn helping to reduce potential costs, for instance.

  • Publication number: 20150152695
Abstract: A riser suspension system for suspending a riser from a subsea wellhead housing using a running tool. The system comprises a surface wellhead housing, a riser hanger and a load shoulder. The surface wellhead housing comprises a bore, a shoulder profile, a lock profile and a support ring. The riser hanger assembly comprises a hanger body, an adjustable suspension mechanism rotationally coupled with the hanger body and a lock ring expandable into engagement with the lock profile. The load shoulder assembly couples with the riser hanger assembly and comprises a lock ring expandable into engagement with the shoulder profile. The invention further claims a multi-function running tool that requires only a single trip and which can manipulate, latch and back up a tie-back adapter into the downhole equipment and provide positive preloaded, locked-in, tension of the riser.
