  • Patent number: 10648065
Abstract: Systems and methods for manufacturing unidirectional fiber prepreg tapes for CMC articles are provided. In one exemplary aspect, the method includes casting a matrix material on a carrier film to form a matrix film. The matrix material of the matrix film is then allowed to dry for a predetermined time. The matrix film is then wrapped on a drum and the matrix material is wet to a predetermined viscosity with a solvent. Thereafter, a fiber tow that includes of a plurality of fibers is wound about the drum so that the fiber tow penetrates into the matrix material and the matrix material impregnates the fiber tow to form the prepreg tape.

Abstract: A personal protection and ventilation system is provided. The system includes a gown having front and rear panels, a hood, and visor; a fan; an air tube; and a helmet. The fan is positioned between the wearer and a body-facing surface of the rear panel. The front panel and at least a portion of the hood are formed from a first material including a first spunbond layer, a spunbond-meltblown-spunbond laminate, and a liquid impervious elastic film disposed therebetween. The first material has an air volumetric flow rate of less than about 1 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm). The rear panel is formed from a second material including a nonwoven laminate having an air volumetric flow rate of about 20 scfm to about 80 scfm. Therefore, the fan is able to intake a sufficient amount of air from the environment through the rear panel to provide cooling/ventilation to the hood.

  • Publication number: 20190330766
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus used for the removal of moisture from of a section of polymer filament just prior to its consumption by an external process. The apparatus removes moisture by heating the polymer filament in a controlled manner to a temperature which releases the moisture from the polymer filament, but below the temperature that significantly distorts the polymer filament so that the mechanical structure of the polymer filament (diameter and linearity) is substantially maintained. As the polymer filament is externally consumed, it moves through the apparatus. The apparatus removes moisture from polymer filament more rapidly than other methods.

  • Patent number: 10093068
Abstract: A system including one or more rubber bodies with respective rubber portions. The rubber body is positionable on a preselected portion of a surface of an object. An inner side of the rubber body is engageable with the preselected portion, and an outer side thereof is opposed to the inner side. The system includes a release film positionable on the rubber body, a heating blanket positionable on the release film, and a breather fabric. The system also includes a vacuum cover engageable with the breather fabric, which is sealed along a perimeter surrounding the preselected portion of the surface. A vacuum pump is in fluid communication with an interior space partially defined by the vacuum cover, for subjecting the rubber body to a predetermined pressure. The rubber portion is vulcanizable when subjected to heat generated by the heating blanket and to the predetermined pressure.
