Abstract: A navigation apparatus includes a control unit for determining whether an approach route to a branch point, which is a route guidance object, and an exit route from the branch point correspond to a learned road link of a learned road data. The control unit provides a normal guidance, instructing a progress direction guidance for the branch point, when none of the approach and exit routes is determined to correspond to a learned road link. Alternatively, the control unit provides a learned road guidance, which is different from the normal guidance, when at least one of the approach route and the exit route is determined to correspond to a learned road link, where the learned road guidance reflects the learned road link in the route guidance.
Abstract: A vehicular collision safety control apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes an image acquirer for acquiring an image of a face of an occupant of the vehicle, a face position acquirer for acquiring a position of the face in a three-dimensional space based on the image, a distance calculator for calculating a distance between the acquired position of the face and a reference position located in front of the face, an airbag activator for increasing airbag pressure to a predetermined pressure in response to impact detection, and a setting device for setting a waiting time from the impact detection to start of airbag inflation, so that as the calculated distance is smaller, a pressure-reach time for the airbag pressure to reach the predetermined pressure is smaller.
Abstract: A charging apparatus is used for charging a storage battery. This charging apparatus includes a body connected to a power source, a connector connected to the storage battery, an electric cable connecting between the body and the connector, a support member provided in the body, and a holding member provided in the body. The electric cable includes a held member at a predetermined position in an intermediate portion of the electric cable. The support member supports the connector. The holding member detachably holds the held member.
Abstract: A semiconductor device includes: a semiconductor substrate; a diode-built-in insulated-gate bipolar transistor having an insulated-gate bipolar transistor and a diode, which are disposed in the substrate, wherein the insulated-gate bipolar transistor includes a gate, and is driven with a driving signal input into the gate; and a feedback unit for detecting current passing through the diode. The driving signal is input from an external unit into the feedback unit. The feedback unit passes the driving signal to the gate of the insulated-gate bipolar transistor when the feedback unit detects no current through the diode, and the feedback unit stops passing the driving signal to the gate of the insulated-gate bipolar transistor when the feedback unit detects the current through the diode.
Abstract: A vehicle behavior control apparatus mounted in a vehicle to control steering of the vehicle. A virtual road outline, which is an outline of a drivable road region where the vehicle will travel, is determined on the basis of detection results from a location sensor. The virtual road outline is reconstructed as a sequence of road segments, such as straight road segments, and right- and left-hand curved road segments. When a current road segment where the vehicle is currently present is a right- or left-hand curved road segment, a subsequent road segment where the vehicle will be present subsequently is tentatively set to a straight road segment until the vehicle reaches the subsequent road segment. The steering angle is controlled so that a virtual-road boundary distance is adapted to a proper distance from the vehicle to a boundary of the virtual road outline situated in front of the vehicle.
Abstract: A navigation apparatus for providing a guidance about an exiting road of a circular intersection based on a prestored road and a learned road is disclosed. The navigation apparatus determines whether or not the learned road is included in connection roads of the circular intersection. When the learned road is not included in the connection roads of the circular intersection, the navigation apparatus provides the guidance about the circular intersection in an exit number mode. When the learned road is included in the connection roads of the circular intersection, the navigation apparatus device provides the guidance about the circular intersection in a learned road guidance mode.
Abstract: A power transducer failure detection device detects a failure on a power transducer, making a power transducer control device stop driving the power transducer. A first switching control device turns off a first power supply relay of a power supply source switching device and turns on a second power supply relay of the power supply source switching device. While the power transducer stops driving, a motor may rotate due to an external force to generate a regenerative voltage. The regenerative voltage is then regenerated in a battery through a route from the power transducer via the second power supply relay being turned on and a parasitic diode of the first power supply relay. This can protect elements such as switching elements and a smoothing capacitor of the power transducer against a regenerative voltage and prevent the elements from being destroyed or reducing the useful life due to overvoltage.

Abstract: An imaging control device for controlling a facial image taking apparatus which radiates light from a light source to a face and takes an image of the face is disclosed. The imaging control device determines an intensity of environmental light and a degree of reflection by a pair of eyeglasses. When it is determined that the intensity of the environmental light is greater than or equal to a predetermined determination value and the degree of the reflection by the eyeglasses is greater than or equal to a predetermined determination value, the imaging control device sets an intensity of the light radiated from the light source to a predetermined intensity that makes states of eyes in the facial image recognizable.
Abstract: A hair implanter is equipped with a tube in which a shaft is disposed movable in an axial direction thereof, a tapered hollow needle extending from a tip end of the tube, and slits extending from a tip of the needle in an axial direction thereof to divide a body of the needle into a plurality of needle strips. The needle strips are so shaped that when the shaft is pushed, it contacts inner surfaces of the needle strips, and when the shaft is further advanced in sliding contact with the inner surfaces of the needle strips, the needle strips will elastically bend radially outwardly. Each of the slits extends toward the base end of the tube across a point at which the shaft contacts the inner surfaces of the needle strips. This achieves smooth opening of the tip of the needle with a small degree of force pushing the shaft.
Abstract: A fluid-pressure-operated valve timing controller has a control valve that is disposed in a vane rotor and a camshaft. The control valve has a sleeve and a spool moving in an axial direction in the sleeve. The sleeve includes: a valve part held by the vane rotor; a screw part coaxially secured to the camshaft in a state where an axial tension is generated; and a connector part that connects the valve part and the screw part with each other in the axial direction. A strength or rigidity of the connector part relative to the axial tension is lower than that of the valve part.
Abstract: A vehicle control apparatus capable of automatic steering control while reducing discomfort or stress on vehicle occupants. In the apparatus, a lane detection unit detects a lane in which the vehicle is traveling. An offset setting unit sets an offset within the lane suitable for making a driver feel less stressed. An occupant detection unit detects the presence of a designated occupant of a seat opposite a driver's seat. An offset adjustment unit, when the designated occupant is detected, adjusts the offset set by the offset setting unit to be decreased. A vehicle-path estimation unit estimates a vehicle path in the lane such that the vehicle can travel along the vehicle path from a current lateral position to a target lateral position of the vehicle. An automatic steering control unit automatically controls steering so that the vehicle travels along the estimated vehicle.
Abstract: An engine starter controller for a vehicle equipped with an idle-stop controller includes a user-start circuit, an auto-start circuit, a switch, and a failure detector. The user-start circuit energizes a starter when a driver starts an engine. The auto-start circuit energizes the starter when the idle-stop controller automatically restarts the engine. The switch circuit switches an energization circuit for energizing the starter from the user-start circuit to the auto-start circuit after the user-start circuit starts to energize the starter by causing the auto-start circuit to energize the starter and by putting the user-start circuit into a forced state where the user-start circuit is forced to stop energizing the starter. The failure detector determines whether the auto-start circuit energizes the starter when the energization circuit is switched to the auto-start circuit.

Abstract: In a tire pressure detecting apparatus, a receiver stores wheel positions detected by a previous wheel position detection as previous wheel positions. When an ignition switch is turned on and until wheel positions are newly specified by a current wheel position detection, the receiver permits an indicator to indicate tire pressure of each of wheels based on the previous wheel positions to notify a driver of the tire pressure from an earlier timing. The receiver permits the indication of the tire pressure based on the previous wheel positions only when a difference of the tire pressure between the wheels is equal to or less than a threshold. If there is a possibility that tire pressure of one of the wheels is insufficient, the receiver prevents the indicator to indicate the tire pressure until a current wheel position detection finishes.
Abstract: A turning probability prediction apparatus for predicting a turning probability at an intersection at an end of a new road is disclosed. The turning probability prediction apparatus includes a route search device and a prediction device. The route search device retrieves a route that, while extending along a prestored road, leads from the intersection at one end of the new road to the intersection at the other end of the new road. The prediction device predicts the turning probability at the intersection at the end of the new road, based on the probabilities that the turns are made at first to n-th intermediate intersections, wherein the first to n-th intermediate intersections are defined as intersections arranged in the route retrieved by the route search device.
Abstract: An inter-vehicle distance control device is provided. A typical embodiment of the device comprises, i) an inter-vehicle distance detecting means for detecting an inter-vehicle distance between the own vehicle and the preceding vehicle traveling in front of the own vehicle, ii) a laterally adjacent vehicle detecting means for detecting another vehicle present beside the own vehicle, iii) a cut-in detecting means for judging whether or not a cut-in by the other vehicle detected by the laterally adjacent vehicle detecting means is likely to occur, before the other vehicle cuts in between the own vehicle and the preceding vehicle, iv) an inter-vehicle distance adjusting means for performing inter-vehicle distance extension adjustment to increase the inter-vehicle distance when the cut-in detecting means judges that a cut-in is likely to occur, and v) an inter-vehicle distance control means for controlling the inter-vehicle distance based on information from the inter-vehicle distance adjusting means.
