    Abstract: A sealing arrangement for sealing a door or other closure against leakage of EMI (electromagnetic interference) from an enclosure comprises a flexible strip overlying a peripheral portion of the door. The flexible strip is attached to the door along its innermost edge. A magnet strip or the like urges the flexible strip into contact with the enclosure to be sealed. The magnet strip may be mounted on the closure, and trap the flexible strip against the frame, or be mounted upon the frame and pull the flexible strip onto the frame. Protuberances at intervals along the flexible strip provide reliable electrical contact between the flexible strip and the enclosure. The closure need not be a door, supported using hinges, but might be a panel supported solely by adhesion of the magnet strip to the enclosure. A plurality of such panels might be used to clad, and seal, an equipment rack of the open-framework kind.

    Abstract: A protection circuit for a cable transmission system comprising a multipaired cable core surrounded by a conductive sheath wherein at least some of the cable pairs have one or more line powered repeater amplifiers connected in series therewith at discrete locations. Gas tubes connect each of the amplifiers input and output terminals to a common bus at each location. In addition a further gas tube having a breakdown voltage several times higher than the others at that location, is connected between the common bus and the conductive sheath, so as to provide controlled breakdown therebetween.

    Abstract: A protector for telecommunications lines has an elongated housing with a ground bar extending up one side. End webs extend from the opposite ends of the ground bar across the housing, and a central web extends from the bar also across the housing. A protection device composed of an overcurrent device and an overvoltage device extends between each end web and the center web, the devices on a common axis. In a particular arrangement a ground spring is attached to the ground bar at the side of the housing for connecting with a suitable housing of a protector field in a connector unit. Detent means can be provided to provide for positive partial withdrawal of a protector.

    Abstract: A protector field, as used in connecting units for telecommunications lines, comprises a metal housing having metal portions, the portions having formations at predetermined spaced apart positions to define protector positions. Terminals extend through an electrically insulating back member for connection to protectors, and for connection of conductors. The metal casing and partitions provide effective grounding means for the protectors. Formations on the portions cooperate with detents on the protectors to give predetermined partial withdrawal of protectors. The formations defining the protector positions can be arranged to provide for one way insertion of protectors.

    Abstract: A connector block for telecommunication lines comprises a unitary structure including a protector field section, a cross-connect field section and a test field section. The cross-connect field extends down one side of the protector field facing in a direction to that which the protector field faces. The test field is positioned on the corner of the junction between the protector field and the cross-connect field, being inclined to face in a direction intermediate that of the protector field and the test field. The protector field can have a metal casing and metal partitions defining protector positions and can serve as an electrical ground connection for the protectors. The protectors can have detents cooperating with formations on the protector field to provide for positive partial withdrawal position. One way insertion of protectors can also be provided. The cross-connect field can be arranged to pivot outwards for access to the rear parts of terminals in the cross-connect unit.
