  • Publication number: 20250133515
Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, components, devices, and systems for optimizing energy efficiency and network performance in cellular networks through dynamic adaptation of transmission parameters for synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) and system information block type 1 (SIB1) transmissions initiated by user equipment (UE) requests. Some aspects more specifically relate to providing UE-assisted information over an uplink wake-up signal (UL-WUS) to optimize support of on-demand SSBs or SIB1s. In some examples, a UE sends an uplink signal to a network entity requesting transmission of at least one of an SSB or an SIB1, with the uplink signal indicating a transmission parameter for the SSB or the SIB1, such as transmission power or repetition factor. In response to the uplink signal, the network entity sends the SSB or the SIB1 associated with the transmission parameter based at least in part on the uplink signal, resulting in improved energy efficiency and network performance.

  • Publication number: 20250126613
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to transmit a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) occasion skipping uplink control information (UCI) on more than one transmit occasion of a configured grant (CG). For example, the PUSCH occasion skipping UCI may be associated with a priority, and the UE may multiplex the PUSCH occasion skipping UCI with a PUSCH transmission when the UE does not identify another UCI with a higher priority than the PUSCH occasion skipping UCI to multiplex with the PUSCH transmission. In some examples, the priority of the PUSCH occasion skipping UCI may decrease over time (e.g., with each successive slot). In some examples, the UE may identify a gap period, and may transmit a new PUSCH occasion skipping UCI when the gap period has passed.

  • Publication number: 20250119232
Abstract: Some techniques described herein provide autonomous modification of a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) of a grant for a transmission by a user equipment UE. For example, the UE may receive a grant (e.g., a configured grant) indicating a resource allocation and a first MCS for a transmission on the resource allocation. The UE may use the resource allocation for a transmission of a number of transport blocks (e.g., one or more transport blocks), and may use a second MCS, different than the first MCS, for the transmission. In some examples, the second MCS may be a lower MCS, associated with a lower modulation scheme and/or code rate, than the first MCS. Thus, a per-resource-block power consumption of the transmission is decreased by using the second MCS, which provides power savings while reducing or eliminating padding of the uplink communication.

  • Publication number: 20250119957
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. To save energy at the network, synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) may be transmitted in an on-demand manner. For example, the network may transmit an SSB in response to a request for an SSB or an uplink wake-up signal (WUS) from a user equipment (UE). SSBs may be mapped to corresponding random access channel occasions (ROs) via control signaling such as radio resource control or system information. For example, the described techniques provide for rules and/or signaling that may indicate whether a network entity should monitor for, and thus whether a UE may transmit, in ROs corresponding to on-demand SSBs. In some examples, a UE may transmit a request for an on-demand SSB, receive an SSB based on the request, and selectively transmit a message to the network entity in an RO corresponding to the SSB based on reception of the SSB.

  • Publication number: 20250096926
Abstract: Aspects presented herein may improve the latency and power consumption for communications by enabling a wireless device to apply outer coding (OC) (with forward error correction (FEC)) to transmission(s). In one aspect, a wireless device segments each packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packet in a plurality of PDCP packets into a set of OC symbols, where the plurality of PDCP packets corresponds to a packet data unit (PDU) set. The wireless device assembles multiple sets of OC symbols into an OC block. The wireless device applies an FEC encoding to the OC block. The wireless device outputs the OC block based on the FEC encoding. In some examples, the wireless device also adds an OC header to the OC block, where the OC header includes a symbol size, a set of source symbols, and/or a symbol index associated with the FEC encoding.
