  • Publication number: 20020038636
Abstract: The invention proposes a switchable support element (1) requiring only a small design space. For this purpose, a slide (12) that serves to couple an inner element (6) to an outer housing (3) in the support element (1) is positioned laterally in a housing (2) arranged in the cylinder head (5). At the same time, a bore (8) in the inner element (6) for the slide (12) is made as a pocket bore, the housing (2) being seated through an annular extension (11) directly in a bore (9) of the outer housing (3). The slide (12) can be displaced electromagnetically or hydraulically in at least one direction.

  • Publication number: 20020038642
Abstract: A switchable, hydraulic support element (1) requiring only a small design space is proposed. For achieving this, a bore (16) for a slide (23) is arranged laterally of a pressure piston (10) of a hydraulic clearance compensation element (11) in the inner element (7) and is configured as a pocket bore. This dispenses with the stacked arrangement of the bore in the inner element and the clearance compensation element on top of each other as seen in prior art. At the same time, the slide (23) is installed in a housing (19) that extends in the cylinder head (5).

  • Publication number: 20010016530
Abstract: A tensioner, includes a hollow plunger guided in a cylinder for displacement in an axial direction and spring-loaded in a direction of a power transmitting element. A pressure chamber for receiving hydraulic fluid is defined by the cylinder and the plunger. Fitted interiorly of and being immobile with respect to the plunger is a control member which has a closed outer circumference, with a ring-shaped leakage gap formed by the plunger and the control member for passage of hydraulic fluid from the pressure chamber. The control member and the plunger have different coefficient of thermal expansion so that the leakage gap has dimensions which decrease as a temperature of the hydraulic fluid increases.

  • Patent number: 6055951
Abstract: A finger lever (1) is configured for the simultaneous loading of three identically operating gas exchange valves. To simplify the manufacture of a hydraulic medium supply of its hydraulic clearance compensation elements (4) resting on valve stem ends and to prevent unnecessary losses of hydraulic medium, the invention proposes the arrangement of only one central passage (12) in the finger lever (1) for supplying all the clearance compensation elements (4). This passage (12) extends near a central transverse plane of the finger lever (1) and opens into a cross-passage (10) in the form of a through-bore to the individual clearance compensation elements (4).
