  • Patent number: 7654588
Abstract: A pipe connection includes a metal locking ring which can be pushed onto the external pipe of two interlocking metal pipes to connect the latter. The inner face of the locking ring has a leading section that tapers conically in a radial direction in opposition to the direction of application; a trailing section that tapers conically in a radial direction in opposition to the direction of application and that causes the pipe to be radially compressed, when the ring is in the locking position; and a central section lying between the leading section and the trailing section. A central section with a conical configuration improves a pipe connection of this type so that the tensile strength of heavy duty pipe connections or pipe connections consisting of pipes of material with low elasticity becomes mechanically more stable.

  • Publication number: 20080122223
Abstract: The invention relates to a pipe connection comprising a metal locking ring (1, 1*), which can be pushed onto the external pipe (6, 6*) of two interlocking metal pipes (6, 6*, 7) to connect the latter. According to the invention, the inner face of the locking ring (1, 1*): a) comprises a leading section (2) that tapers conically in a radial direction in opposition to the direction of application (A); b) comprising a trailing section (4)that tapers conically in a radial direction in opposition to the direction of application (A) and that causes the pipe (6, 6*, 7) to be radially compressed, when the ring is in the locking position; and c) comprises a central section (3, 3*) lying between the leading section (2) and the trailing section (4). The aim of the invention is to further improve a pipe connection of this type so that the tensile strength of heavy duty pipe connections or pipe connections consisting of pipes of material with low elasticity becomes mechanically more stable.

  • Publication number: 20070228732
Abstract: The subject matter of this present invention is a pipe joint with a socket (1) and a pipe (2), that is closed by pushing a ring (3) onto the socket (1). The joint further comprises a sealing element (4) that is placed into a chamber (5) of the socket (1). The chamber is executed as a diametral expansion of the socket (1) and is deformed in a defined manner when the ring (3) is pushed on. Due to this the sealing element (4) between the wall of the chamber (5) and the pipe (2) is compressed. Furthermore, when the joint is closed, the socket (1) is compressed with the pipe (2), due to which a mechanically stable joint is produced, that additionally serves as an emergency seal.

  • Patent number: 5511453
Abstract: A pliers for mounting purposes has two plier portions pivotably connected by a first pivot connection. Each plier portion has a jaw base body and a grip of a length that is a multiple of the length of the jaw base body. A first grip is divided into a first and second section. The first section, shorter than the second section, is located between the jaw base body and the second section. A second pivot connection pivotably connects the first and second sections and has a pivot bolt extending parallel to the pivot axis of the first pivot connection. A sprocket wheel and a ratchet wheel are rotatably connected to the pivot bolt and fixedly connected to one another. A chain connected to the second grip is guided across the sprocket wheel to the second section and extends in the longitudinal direction toward a tension spring at which it is fastened. A spring-biased follower pawl is connected to the second section such that upon closing the second section sprocket wheel and ratchet wheel rotate to close the pliers.

  • Patent number: 5470113
Abstract: A connector for cylindrical plastic tubes has a metallic inner sleeve with an outer diameter that is greater than in inner diameter of the plastic tubes to be connected. The inner sleeve has a free end and a securing flange positioned opposite the free end. A metallic sliding sleeve for being slipped onto a section of the plastic tube having inserted therein the inner sleeve is provided. The inner sleeve has an outer surface with at least one circumferential rib of a substantially rectangular cross-section. The sliding sleeve has a leading end and a rearward end in the direction of sliding onto the section. The sliding sleeve has an inner surface that beginning at the leading end and ending at the rearward end, has sequentially: a first conically narrowing zone, a second conically narrowing zone, a cylindrical zone, a third conically narrowing zone, and a cylindrical zone.

  • Patent number: 4483056
Abstract: The invention relates to a tool for closing pipe couplings between metal pipes (4, 5), the end of one pipe (4) being closingly engageable in a widened terminal part (6) of the other pipe (5), a sleeve ring (7) being pressed axially on to the widened part over the end face thereof. According to the invention, two pressing jaws (1, 2) movable towards and away from one another parallel to the pipe axes are provided and are forked in the pipe engaging zone, the sleeve ring (7) being retained in one pressing jaw (1) while the other pressing jaw (2) engages by means of tongs-action clamping jaws (10) with the funnel-shaped constriction between the widened part of the pipe and the unwidened part thereof. The outer ends of the clamping jaws (10) take the form of half-shells (12) which are in laterally inverted relationship to one another and whose inner shell surfaces are adapted to the pipe periphery.
