    Abstract: Spherical, hard mono- or oligodisperse particles of diameter from 0.1 to 100 .mu.m are prepared by condensation of partially etherified melamine-formaldehyde precondensates which form a clear solution in water in every ratio, in an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer which has strongly acid groups and a K value of from 100 to 160, at pH 3 to 6 and at to C., and condensation of the resulting cloudy solution is continued until the precondensate has been consumed, resulting in a dispersion of the particles. The dispersion is neutralized. The particles can be used in the form of the aqueous dispersion or after isolation from the dispersion.The particles are spherical, hard and non-swellable and can be used, for example, as sizes for plastics, polishes, delustrants, extruders and/or as pigment.The process makes it possible to produce particles of predetermined size and size distribution.

    Abstract: A method for increasing the hitting probability of multi-barreled machine weapons, especially for four-gun or gatling-type weapon systems. Through a spreading apart of the middle of hitting point locations of the individual weapon barrels, there can be achieved an improvement in the characteristics of the firing spread. This is attained in that the middle hitting point location of the individual weapon barrels is spread apart in such a manner about the middle hitting point location of all of weapon barrels of a weapon system, that the density of hits remains almost constant at a restrictedly increasing deviation from the middle of the hitting point location of all the weapon barrels. The middle hitting point location of the individual weapon barrels can be spread apart by the amount of the average standard deviation of the diring spread of the individual weapon barrels from the middle hitting point location of all weapon barrels of a weapon system.

    Abstract: A projectile particularly for use in rapid fire weapons and high performance guns comprises a hollow projectile body having an exterior surface with an annular groove therearound and with a plurality of openings formed in the groove at spaced circumferential locations. A rotating band is positioned in the groove and secured against displacement caused by centrifugal and accelerating forces, portions of the band which extend through the openings. The band is advantageously injection molded directly in the groove so that portions thereof form into the openings and extend through the openings and form a closed ring on the interior of the shell of the projectile body.

    Abstract: A projectile particularly for automatic firearms in high performance machine guns comprises a cylindrical projectile body which has an annular groove around its circumference with rib portions extending radially outwardly of the bottom of the groove which are of radial extent no greater than the outer surface of the projectile body. The groove has end walls which are substantially perpendicular to the exterior surface of the body. A plastic rotating band has its inner periphery anchored in the groove with the rib portions extending to receiving recesses or grooves of the band. The ribs are advantageously radially extending elements which have their outer ends bent in axial directions and they are arranged so that there are portions of the groove of the body on each side thereof. In accordance with the method of manufacturing a projectile body, a form tool is used to effect the recessing of the projectile body or jacket to produce the intermediate ribs which are of substantially rectangular cross section.

    Abstract: A projectile, comprises, an outer metallic hollow shell body and a shell core (for example hard metal or heavy metal) disposed in the body having a first cylindrical front portion and a rear portion having a lesser diameter than the front portion. A pyrophoric material liner is disposed on and secured to the rear portion and it is dimensioned such that its outer surface does not project outwardly beyond the surface of the front portion. The liner advantageously comprises a hollow cylinder or a plurality of hollow cylinders, or it may comprise individual strips arranged circumferentially around the rear portion. It is made of pyrophoric material which may comprise a single material or a plurality of different materials of different nature. It is secured to the shell core by press-fitting, cementing or screwing.

Additionally, to reduce the movable mass of the interrupter, at least one of the current paths is constituted by two stationary contact pieces and a movable contact member carried by, and projecting from, the cylinder of the gas compressor. Further, the mass of the moving parts of the system is reduced by providing the shield member carried by the nozzle with a cylindrical projection coaxial with, and slidable relative to, the stationary cylindrical member.
