  • Publication number: 20240082597
Abstract: The present invention provides compositions comprising energy (e.g., light) absorbing submicron particles (e.g., nanoparticles comprising a silica core and a gold shell) and methods for delivering such particles via topical application. This delivery is facilitated by application of mechanical agitation (e.g. massage), acoustic vibration in the range of 10 Hz-20 kHz, ultrasound, alternating suction and pressure, and microjets. The method of treatment is performed and then, depending upon the desired clinical outcome, repeated after a treatment response interval has elapsed.

  • Publication number: 20180325594
Abstract: Methods, and materials useful in such methods, of treating certain skin conditions are described. In brief, the methods impregnate portions of the skin needing treatment with plasmonic materials. Thereafter, surface plasmons are generated on the surface of these plasmonic materials by irradiating the treated skin with near infrared light that is absorbed by the plasmonic materials in the skin.

  • Publication number: 20150196452
Abstract: Certain therapies involving delivering materials, such as light absorbing particles, to the surface of a subject's skin. Thereafter, the movement of the material into skin structures, such as follicles, is facilitated by a mechanical device such as a massager. The present application describes certain devices useful in such therapies.

Additionally or optionally, there is a step of applying a sufficient amount of a liquid to the treatment area after substantial evaporation of the formulation leaves a particle residue on the skin surface. Thereafter, one or more steps of facilitating delivery of particles into a portion of the skin are repeated. Finally, the particles are exposed to a suitable energy activation, thereby providing the desired treatment or clinical outcome.

  • Patent number: 8709006
Abstract: A pulse delivery system for producing a spark in tissue is disclosed. The system can include at least two electrodes having sharp surface features, where the at least two electrodes are electrically isolated from one another. The sharp features of the electrodes can be separated by a distance of about 2 to 20 mm. The system can also include a pulse generator for delivering pulsed voltage differences between the at least two electrodes. The pulsed voltage differences can producing a voltage difference ranging from about 2.5 kV to about 35 kV for a duration of about 50 ns to 3 ?s. The system can include a controller for determining whether the plurality of pulsed voltage differences produced a spark between the at least two electrodes. A method of producing a spark in tissue for both therapeutic and cosmetic, i.e., non-therapeutic, applications is also disclosed.
