Patent number: 11931249Abstract: A voice prosthesis insertion device includes an elongated body having an aperture therein extending axially along the elongated body. The elongated body includes a ring member at one end that is supported by a pair of straps. The elongated body has at least one region that is increasing in cross section. The elongated body further having a collapsible portion defined by a pair of openings in the elongated body. A rod is disposed in the aperture of the elongated body and including a peg adapted to be inserted into an aperture of a tether of a voice prosthesis device. The collapsible portion of the elongated body is flexible to allow the collapsible portion to be longitudinally collapsed to expose the peg of the rod for easy engagement with the strap of the voice prosthesis and the collapsible portion is extendable from the collapsed position to extend over the peg.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2021Date of Patent: March 19, 2024Assignee: Freudenberg Medical, LLCInventors: Kevin Alan Glen, Dimitrios Stroumpoulis

Patent number: 11911565Abstract: A twist to lock heat and moisture exchanging device includes a housing having a first opening that is adapted to open to a tracheostoma and a second opening that opens to ambient. A foam filter is disposed in the housing and a closure member is mounted to the housing and adapted to close a passage between the first opening and the second opening. A locking mechanism is engageable to prevent movement of the closure member to close the passage and disengageable to allow movement of the closure member to close the passage. The twist to lock tracheostoma heat and moisture exchanger allows a user to protect from accidental closure during activities when it would be preferred like sleeping and exercising.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2020Date of Patent: February 27, 2024Assignee: Freudenberg Medical, LLCInventors: Kevin Alan Glen, Dimitrios Stroumpoulis, Tejasvi Subramanya

Publication number: 20150133877Abstract: An implantable injection port facilitates filling and/or draining an inflatable portion of a gastric band. In an embodiment, the port comprises a movable cap that causes anchor wires to extend from anchor devices in order to implant the injection port in the tissue of a patient. In another embodiment, the port comprises a handle that rotates to implant curved anchors into the tissue of a patient. In yet another embodiment, a cap is configured to move towards a base of the port in order to cause the curved anchors to rotate into the tissue of a patient. The cap may also rotate with respect to the base in order to lock the cap and the anchors in position. Further, surfaces of the injection port may be textured to increase adhesiveness to the patient's tissue during installation and to facilitate simpler installation.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 11, 2014Publication date: May 14, 2015Applicant: Apollo Endosurgery, Inc.Inventors: James A. Publication number: 20140349959Abstract: Described herein are polysaccharide gel formulations including at least one inhibitor of polysaccharide degradation and methods of making the same. The methods described herein involve the steps of providing at least one polysaccharide and incorporating at least one inhibitor of degradation into the polysaccharide. In some embodiments, the incorporating step comprises 1) mixing the at least one inhibitor with the at least one polysaccharide at a highly hydrated state thereby encapsulating the at least one inhibitor in a polysaccharide network, and 2) dehydrating the polysaccharide network thereby controlling release kinetics or final swell ratio. In another embodiment, the incorporating step comprises 1) encapsulating at least one inhibitor into a biocompatible or biodegradable vessel and 2) combining the polysaccharide and the vessel into a gel formulation. The polysaccharide gel formulations described herein can be used for a variety of cosmetic applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2014Publication date: November 27, 2014Inventors: Dimitrios Stroumpoulis, Christopher S.
