Abstract: The present application is directed toward fire-rated wall construction components and wall systems for use in building construction. Embodiments can include tracks for holding studs which incorporate various geometries capable of receiving fire-retardant material, flat straps for use between tracks and fluted wall components, fire sponges for use in fluted wall components, and tracks with protruding grooves or other structures which prevent unwanted air movement between a wallboard component and the track.

Abstract: An accessory for use with a portable container includes a jacket configured to extend around at least a portion of the sidewall of the container, the jacket including a plurality of modular sections formed separately and connected together around the at least a portion of the sidewall of the container. The modular sections include a first modular section having extending around a first portion of the sidewall of the container, a second modular section connected to the first modular section and extending around a second portion of the sidewall of the container, and at least one additional modular section extending around a third portion of the sidewall of the container. The first and second modular sections have different structural configurations. The accessory also includes a first connection member connected to the jacket and configured to support the jacket in connection with the container.

Abstract: The invention claimed is an interactive inflatable bladder mounted on the outside of any helmet and may be utilized in other forms of protective equipment worn for the purpose of protecting persons from impacts that may cause bodily injury. Helmets are used in numerous sports, activities, and occupations to protect the user from bodily injury resulting from impacts to the head. Existing helmet designs used today are based only on upon post-impact protections. The invention claimed herein improves on pre-impact designs by integrating existing state-of-the-art technologies used in other industries to the helmet to provide pre-impact protections to said post-impact helmet designs. Said system is not limited to helmets and could also be utilized in other forms of protective equipment.

Abstract: According to one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, a riser may be operated by a method including repeatedly heating and cooling a riser between an operational temperature and a non-operational temperature. When the riser is heated from a non-operational temperature to an operational temperature, the riser undergoes thermal expansion. When the riser is cooled from an operational temperature to a non-operational temperature, the riser undergoes thermal contraction. The riser undergoes irreversible growth over repeated heating and cooling cycles, and the length of a lower section of an upper riser portion is sized to accommodate the irreversible growth from cycled thermal expansion of the riser.

The article also includes a side panel having an ultrasonically bonded, gathered laminate. The laminate has an elastomeric layer and a substrate and is joined to the chassis at a chassis attachment bond and positioned in one of the first or second waist regions. The ultrasonically bonded, gathered laminate also includes an ear structural feature comprising a surface modification to the substrate and comprising at least one of the following: embossing, apertures, perforations, slits, melted material or coatings, compressed material, secondary bonds that are disposed apart from a chassis attachment bond, plastic deformation, and folds.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are catheters having multiple coil layers, and associated systems and methods. In some embodiments, a catheter includes an inner liner, a plurality of wires over the inner liner, and an outer sheath over the wires. The wires are coiled about a longitudinal axis of the catheter in a first direction to form a first coil layer over the inner liner, and the wires are coiled about the longitudinal axis in a second direction, opposite the first direction, over the first coil layer to form a second coil layer over the first coil layer. The wires each include a continuous/self-terminating end portion wherein the wire switches from the first direction to the second direction and transitions from the inner coil layer to the outer coil layer.

Abstract: A hydrofoiling watercraft is disclosed that includes a board having a top surface for supporting a user and a bottom surface. Extending from the top surface of the board is a handlebar. Extending from the bottom surface of the board is a hydrofoil including a strut and a hydrofoil wing. A propulsion system is attached to the hydrofoil.

Abstract: In a general aspect, a sample holder has multiple sample containers. In some instances, the sample holder can be received into a resonator package in a primary magnetic field of a magnetic resonance system. The resonator package includes a resonator configured to interact with a sample in a sample region. The sample holder includes a first sample and a calibration sample. The position of the sample holder relative to the resonator is calibrated. After calibrating the position of the sample holder, the sample holder is translated to position the first sample in the sample region. Magnetic resonance data is acquired based on magnetic resonance signals generated by an interaction between the resonator and the first sample.

Abstract: An insulating device can include an opening having a waterproof closure which allows access to a storage compartment within the insulating device. The closure can help prevent any fluid leakage into and out of the insulating device if the insulating device is overturned or in any configuration other than upright. The closure may also prevent any fluid from permeating into the chamber if the insulating device is exposed to precipitation, other fluid, or submersed under water. This construction results in an insulating chamber that is substantially impervious to water and other liquids when the closure is sealed.

Abstract: A method, device, and system for limiting mobile device functionality in a geographic area. When a mobile device is located within a predetermined geographic area, the mobile device receives a disabling signal from a disabling device. A Device Owner Application on the mobile device responds to the disabling signal, restricting functionality of the mobile device. Such restrictions may include restricting the mobile device's ability to send and receive text messages and email messages; restricting the mobile device's ability to respond to user input; restricting the mobile device's ability to place and receive phone calls; restricting the mobile device's ability to place and receive phone calls requiring user interaction with the mobile device; restricting the mobile device's ability to utilize a web browser application; restricting the mobile device's web browser from accessing predetermined web sites; and any other predetermined restriction of mobile device functionality as may be desired.

Abstract: A pneumo-mechanical landing gear deployment system includes a dual-stage handle operatively connected to a pressurized tank, a nose landing gear pneumatically connected to the pressurized tank, and a main landing gear pneumatically connected to the pressurized tank. Actuation of the dual-stage handle to a first position opens the pressurized tank thereby deploying the nose landing gear. Actuation of the dual-stage handle to a second position causes further opening of the pressurized tank thereby deploying the main landing gear. The system may be employed as a backup landing gear deployment system in the case of a primary landing gear system failure.

Abstract: A pet bed is disclosed that includes a bolster and removable mattress portion. The bolster may be formed from a foam cushion, a fiber-filled cushion, a lower bolster cover, and an upper bolster cover. The upper bolster cover may comprise an upper and lower outer member such that the lower outer member connects to the lower bolster cover and separates the foam cushion from the fiber-filled cushion. The upper outer member of the upper bolster cover may cover the foam cushion.
