    Abstract: An RF transmit signal is modulated onto an optical carrier to form a transmit modulated optical carrier (TMOC). The TMOC is split into N transmit modulated optical subcarriers (TMOS). Each TMOS is respectively processed in one of N transmit optical channels (TOCs). In each TOC, RF antenna beam steering operations are performed by optical tuning the TMOS to selectively control a phase difference between the optical carrier and the optical sideband. A different selected phase difference can be applied in each TOC. The TMOS from each of the N TOCs is then processed to obtain N RF signals for driving an antenna array. In the receive direction, M received RF signals from M antenna elements are modulated respectively onto M optical subcarriers to form M receive modulated optical subcarriers (RMOS). RF antenna beam steering operations are performed by optical tuning the RMOS.

Water enters an interior of the ballast tube through the open ends thereof and the access holes, if any. When all the cover sections are installed in the container, the open top of the container is substantially covered by cover sections joined together at seams where adjacent cover connector devices are connected together, and the tube connectors are connected to the cover connectors along a ballast seam such that the ballast tube is located under the ballast seam.

    Abstract: A portable containment system has a flexible liner sheet and a plurality of leg assemblies attached to the edge portions of the liner sheet. Each leg assembly consists of two legs connected by a fabric hinge and movable from a collapsed transport position to an upright operating position where the legs slope upward toward each other to form a triangle. The edge portions of the liner sheet are attached to the top of the triangle. The bottom ends of the leg assemblies are connected to a flexible leg sheet such that the leg assemblies are evenly spaced. Moving all the leg assemblies to the operating position supports the edge portions of the liner sheet in a raised position sloping upward from the surface at an angle less than about 75 degrees, such that a containment area is formed inside the sloping edge portions of the liner sheet.

    Abstract: A method for providing a security barrier proximate a body of water such as a lake or a swimming pool. One or more beams—preferably infra red light beams—define the barrier. A detector is positioned to monitor each beam so that a moving object “cutting” the beam can be detected by a controller in communication with the beam or beams. A motion detector monitors for motion in a broad area around the location of the security perimeter. The motion detector is also in communication with the controller. The controller deactivates the beams and relies solely on the motion detector when no objects are near the perimeter. Once the motion detector senses an object in the area of the perimeter, however, the controller activates the beams. If an object then interrupts a beam, the controller activates an alarm.
