  • Patent number: 5888614
Abstract: A house wrap film product includes a laminated poly film with a first poly film ply and a second poly film ply and micropuncture formed in the laminated poly film to allow vapor transmission from a first side of the laminated poly film to a second side of the laminated poly film. Each of the poly plies is formed of a spiral cut film having a first ply with a first orientation and a second ply having a second orientation, the first orientation being at an angle with respect to an edge of said film and said second orientation being at an angle with respect to an edge of said film, said first ply and said second ply being laminated together cross oriented such that said first orientation extends in a different direction from said second orientation. The micropuncture provides a deformed region of said film, surrounding said hole. A method is provided for forming the house wrap product.

  • Patent number: 5321055
Abstract: The invention provides a polyester resin for use in making synthetic quartzite-marble/granite, comprising: a mix of NPG-isophthalic and PG-orthophthalic resin. An article and a process for forming the article is disclosed. The article includes 40% to 70% of a solution including a mixed monomer and the polyester resin absorbed in a monomer mixture of 2:1 styrene to methyl methacrylate where the total monomer comprises 30% of the solution; 30% to 50% of alumina trihydrate; 10% to 30% of a filler, the filler having a size range of 24 mils to 1/4"; approximately 1% of a peroxide that is stable at room temperature; and, adding a small amount of a pigment or dye.

  • Patent number: 5094058
Abstract: The improved roofing shingle has a body portion of generally flat, four-sided polygonal configuration and relatively thin in thickness. The body portion is provided with a plurality of irregular corrugations or otherwise deformed to give the roofing shingle the appearance of natural wood or other natural material such as slate. The body portion has a channel formed in the under surface so that the upper surface forms a ridge extending substantially parallel to the upper edge of the body portion. The body portion is also provided adjacent each of the opposite side or vertical edges with raised portions which are so shaped and dimensioned as to have one raised portion nest within the raised portion of a next adjacent like roofing shingle. The ridge and nested raised portions forming barriers to water infiltration between the overlapping shingles.

  • Patent number: 4788808
Abstract: A building panel of laminated construction having a flat, four-sided polygonal shaped hardboard sheet to one surface of which is bonded a thin, flat, plastic sheet having weather resistant properties and a rigid foam plastic layer having heat insulating properties bonded to the other surface of the hardboard sheet. The foam plastic layer has a tapered shape in cross section with the taper extending from a lower edge portion to a narrow upper edge portion. The hardboard and plastic sheets have an integral flanged lower edge portion in partial abutment with the lower edge portion of the foam plastic layer. A notch in the lower edge portion of the foam plastic layer adjacent the flanged lower edge portion, which notch is constructed and arranged to receive the upper edge portion of an adjacent lower building panel and thereby anchor the lower edge portion of the building panel and provide a seal at the joint.

  • Patent number: 4437274
Abstract: A building panel having inner and outer faces outlined by opposite ends and an upper and lower edges with opposite ends of the panel adapted to closely face the ends of adjacent panels in the same course. The outer face of the panel includes a lower portion of substantially greater surface area adapted for exposure and an upper portion of relatively smaller surface area adapted to underlie a lower portion of the back face of one or more panels laid up in the next higher course. At least one of the opposite ends of the panel is formed with a spacer projection adjacent the smaller upper portion thereof extending outwardly to provide an expansion space between a lower portion of said one end and an end of an adjacent panel positioned in the same course or row.

  • Patent number: 4422266
Abstract: A building panel having inner and outer faces on a body outlined by opposite ends and by upper and lower edges with opposite ends of the panel adapted to closely face the end of an adjacent panel in the same course or row. The outer face of the panel includes a lower portion of substantially larger surface area adapted for weather exposure and an upper portion of relatively smaller surface area adapted to underlie a lower portion of the back face of one or more panels positioned in a next higher course. A flashing element is mounted on the outer face of the panel for precise pivotal movement between a first position wherein the element lies entirely within the outline of the panel body and a second position wherein the element extends outwardly beyond the body of the panel for flashing a joint between adjacent panels.
