A plurality of contours of an object of the human form is obtained from the plurality of silhouettes. The digital imaging devices are organized based on the view frusta. A set of digital imaging devices is selected from the organized digital imaging devices, where the view frusta of the set of digital imaging devices substantially covers the target volume with at least the target resolution. The set of digital imaging devices are positioned based on each device's physical characteristics. A computed design of the composite camera that includes digital imaging devices held in position by a mechanical fixture is generated.
