  • Patent number: 6412824
Abstract: A mechanical coupling is provided for connecting a branch pipe to a main pipe at a hole through the main pipe. The coupling includes an elastomeric sealing gasket which has a plurality of generally parallel extending, but radially spaced, circumferential seals to effect a secure sealing engagement between the main pipe and the branch pipe in a minimal size coupling. Further, there is increased retention of the gasket within the coupling during on-site assembly which facilitates such assembly.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 22, 1999
Date of Patent: July 2, 2002
    Assignee: Victaulic Company of America
    Inventor: Donald R. Kunsman

  • Patent number: 6264251
Abstract: A segmented flange coupler is disclosed for connecting the free end of a grooved pipe to a fitting having a flange connector. The segmented flange coupler is formed of end-to-end connected individual coupling segments which are configured to move both circumferentially and radially into concentricity during the tightening of their connecting bolts. This is achieved by providing complementary surfaces of revolution about their overlapped bolt receiving apertures. These surfaces of revolution are preferably in the form of mating convex and concave conical surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5833214
Abstract: A plug valve of the type including a valve disc supported by a yoke, includes adjustable members interposed between the yoke and the valve disc permitting adjustment of the valve disc relative to the yoke.

  • Patent number: 4886304
Abstract: A rigid coupling for plain ended pipe includes radially inwardly movable wedging members of a hard but ductile material, which optionally may be in the form of a collet, and a member providing a camming surface corresponding with an external camming surface on each of the wedging members, the wedging members each having an axially straight inner surface for cooperation with the external axial surface of a pipe, the inner surface of the wedging members being coated with a grit material of a hardness greater than that of the pipe and that of the wedging members, for it to become matrixed within the respective surfaces on the application of compressive forces to the wedging members.

  • Patent number: 4561678
Abstract: A closure and locking device for a pipe coupling includes lugs on the juxtaposed ends of coupling segments that interfit and can be locked in a closed position by a locking pin. The lugs each provide reaction members which are employed in the pressure loading and closing of the coupling against the bias of a resilient sealing gasket contained within the segments of the coupling, with the closing accomplished with the aid of a tool which is removably engagable with the lugs of the coupling.

  • Patent number: 4461498
Abstract: According to the present invention, a coupling member assembly is provided which is of multiple-part construction, and which includes an inexpensive and readily replaceable conduit member formed from an abrasion resistant material, the conduit member being supported substantially throughout its entire outer surface by two or more rigid coupling member sections which are bolted or otherwise secured to each other, and, which provide the major structural strength of the coupling member assembly.

  • Patent number: 3995466
Abstract: A machine for semi-automatic grooving of pipe, capable of high output of full or less than full lengths of pipe with uniform external circumferential grooves, has supporting idler rolls for automatic positioning of the pipe axis at a small angle of deflection to draw the pipe end in as grooving progresses, with respect to a driven backup roll and a freely rotatable grooving roll. Pipe vibration during rotation is damped by hydraulic means. An adjustable groove depth control and a safety mechanism are also provided.
