Publication number: 20230179976Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities may implement service-based discovery in a network, such as a 3GPP or 3GPP2 network. A Discovery Server may be used to query and find services offered by the network or by entities that interface with the network. Situational context information or policy information, or both, may be communicated to the discovery server so that the Discovery Server can provide context-aware and policy-based discovery services. The Discovery Server may be used to control which of the entities that interface with the network can discover one another. The Discovery Server may support queries based on, for example, the type of MTC entity, the type of services hosted on the entity, the availability times of the entity, types of protocols supported, levels of Quality of Service (QoS) supported, and MTC-IWF services.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2022Publication date: June 8, 2023Applicant: IOT Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Dale Seed, Michael Starsinic, Guang Lu, Kamel M. Patent number: 10205665Abstract: A plurality of nodes in a first network mitigate data restrictions on access points which are an interface between the first network and a second network. The access points advertise their access parameters to the second network to the nodes. The nodes maintain a list of the advertised access parameters of each access point. The nodes determine whether to transmit data to the second network according to a first transmission mode or a second transmission mode based on the data to be transmitted and the list of access parameters maintained by that node. In the first transmission mode, the node determines to transmit the data to a first access point having a lowest cost with that node. In the second transmission mode, the node determines to transmit the data to a second access point having fewer access restrictions to the second network than the first access point.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2017Date of Patent: February 12, 2019Assignee: ITRON NETWORKED SOLUTIONS, INC.Inventors: Elad Gottlib, Dorothy Gellert

Patent number: 10165389Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are provided to determine routing associated with a short message. A SMS-SC may send a first routing request to a home subscriber server (HSS). The first routing request may be associated with the short message. The SMS-SC may receive a first routing reply. The first routing reply may include one of an indication that the short message is associated with a service capability server (SCS) or a first control plane routing associated with the short message. The SMS-SC may send the short message to an SCS serving node. The first routing reply may include the indication that the short message is associated with a service capability server (SCS). The SMS-SC may send a second routing request to a SCS subscription database. The SMS-SC may receive a second routing reply from the SCS subscription database, which may indicate a second control plane routing for the short message.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2016Date of Patent: December 25, 2018Assignee: IOT Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Michael F. Publication number: 20120252518Abstract: A method and apparatus for network initiated attachment are provided. A machine-type communication (MTC) wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is in a detached state. A MTC server sends a trigger request to the MTC WTRU via a network entity, such as a Home Subscriber Server (HSS), a mobility management gateway (MME), a Serving General packet radio service Support Node (SGSN), or a combination thereof. The network entity stores, updates, or obtains information associated with a current, former, or default connection status of the WTRU. The information is obtained from the WTRU attach request message, subscription information, locally stored information, or a combination thereof. The subscription information includes a subscription profile. The WTRU, upon receiving the trigger request, performs a network attachment procedure, enters an attached state and communicates with the MTC server. The WTRU performs a network detach procedure and enters a detached state after completing communications with the MTC server.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2012Publication date: October 4, 2012Applicant: INTERDIGITAL PATENT HOLDINGS, INC.Inventors: Dimitrios Karampatsis, Kamel M.
