Patent number: 8773117Abstract: A conductivity sensor is disclosed. The conductivity sensor includes an oscillator for providing an input signal and a reactive circuit having an induction coil, a capacitive element, and a resistive element connected in parallel. The induction coil is adapted to be placed adjacent to a specimen. The conductivity sensor further includes a control circuit for driving the reactive circuit to resonance when the induction coil is placed adjacent to the specimen. The reactive coil is configured to provide an output signal having a parameter representative of the conductivity of the specimen when the reactive circuit is at resonance. The induction coil may include a first conductive element that spirals outward to an external perimeter and a second conductive element operably connected to the first conductive element. The second conductive element spirals inward from the external perimeter staggered relative to the first conductive element.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2013Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Joseph R. Patent number: 8442744Abstract: To partially supplant the use of fossil fuels in diesel engines, oxygen-containing fuels, such as biodiesels, are proposed as blending agents in diesel fuel. Engine calibration coefficients to control EGR rate, timings and quantities of fuel injection pulses, turbocharger boost, etc, can be determined to compensate for the lower energy content of such oxygenate blends compared to diesel fuels. According to an embodiment of the disclosure, the fuel quantity of each of multiple injection pulses is increased proportionally to compensate for the impact of oxygenates. An adjustment in the fuel injection quantity is performed in response to a new tank of fuel and the adjustment is applied for that tank of fuel. A fuel compensation factor (FCF) can be determined based on the actual amount of fuel injected compared to the expected amount of diesel fuel at the present operating condition.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2010Date of Patent: May 14, 2013Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Eric Kurtz, Douglas Glen Kuhel, Jianwen James Wi, Christian Winge Viglid

Patent number: 8152200Abstract: Heavy equipment trailer and deck extension. The trailer has an elongated main deck with longitudinally extending frame members on opposite sides thereof, and ground engaging wheels toward the rear of the main deck. The extension has longitudinally extending frame members aligned with the frame members of the main deck, and coupling pins extend between the frame members of the main deck and the extension in load supporting relationship, with lock pins preventing longitudinal separation of the main deck and the extension. C-shaped channel members extend along the upper, lower, and outer sides of the extension, past the coupling pins, and along upper, lower, and outer side portions of the frame members of the main deck to hold the frame members in alignment and prevent sagging under load conditions.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2009Date of Patent: April 10, 2012Assignee: Harley Murray, Inc.Inventors: Douglas Glen Murray, David Lee Trowbridge

Patent number: 7377051Abstract: A tubing counter for counting coiled tubing inserted into a well includes an outer housing having a through passage for receiving the coiled tubing therethrough. In some embodiments, pressure rated connectors at both of the ends of the outer housing sealably connect the outer housing in series between the coiled tubing injector head and the outer casing of the well. A plurality of counting wheels are rotatably supported within the outer housing for rolling engagement along coiled tubing inserted through the outer housing while a counting mechanism records a number of rotations of each counting wheel independently of the other wheels to minimize counting errors. Locating the counter below the injector head and below the tubing stripper ensures that the tubing is cleaner and less likely to slip in contact with the counting wheels while also accounting for stretching of the tubing for more accurate measurement.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2006Date of Patent: May 27, 2008Assignee: Count-Rite Oilfield Solutions Inc.Inventors: Collin Rickey Morris, Joseph Henry Reck, Douglas Glen Boyd, Shawn Rodney Van Drecht

Patent number: 6660264Abstract: An agent for combating an intracellular microbial infection comprises a phage component and, associated therewith, a targeting moiety which directs the agent to a target cell and initiates delivery of the phage into the target cell. Once inside the target cell, the phage causes lysis of a microorganism residing within the target cell. A mycobacteriophage is combined with a targeting moiety of transferrin. Compositions comprising the agent, methods of preparing said agent, and use of said agent for combating intracellular infections are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2001Date of Patent: December 9, 2003Assignee: Health Protection AgencyInventors: Vladimir Artymovich Pasechnik, Allen Douglas Glen Roberts, Richard James Sharp

Publication number: 20030110371Abstract: A method and an apparatus for transporting user-specific information from one personal computer to another are described. One version of the system utilizes pocket-sized USB flash memory devices (USB Drives). When the USB Drive is connected to a first computer, typically the user's everyday computer, user-specific information, such as email account settings, address book, sent and received emails, etc. is captured on the USB Drive. When the USB Drive is plugged into a second computer, typically a publicly-accessible or borrowed computer, and an application is launched, such as Outlook, user-specific information is temporarily loaded from the USB Drive into the Outlook application. Consequently, the user is able to work on the borrowed computer as if he is working on his everyday computer at home or in the office. Updated information, such as new emails received, is automatically saved to the USB Drive for subsequent transport to the everyday computer.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2001Publication date: June 12, 2003Inventors: Yongzhi Yang, Douglas Glen, Luke Yi, Andrew Rifkin
