  • Publication number: 20230403041
Abstract: An RF transceiver includes an RF transmitter coupled to a broadcast antenna, an RF receiver coupled to a receiving antenna, and a communication channel to provide an RF reference signal from the transmitter to the receiver to assist in canceling a transmitter-induced interference signal at the receiver. A digital processor of the receiver is configured for adaptive filtering the RF reference signal in the frequency domain to estimate the spectrum of the interference signal, and estimating a spectrum of a remotely-transmitted signal based on the estimated interference spectrum and a spectrum of a received signal from the receiving antenna. The filtering includes estimating frequency-domain filter weights based, at least, on spectra of the received and reference signals, and de-noising of the estimated filter weights. The interference cancellation may be iteratively improved using a re-modulated feedback from a demodulator and/or a decoder in the signal processing chain of the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20230318726
Abstract: A communication apparatus for a transmitter tower station (TTS) of a broadcast system includes a first transmitter (Tx) antenna to transmit a broadcast signal to a plurality of customer receivers, and one or more second, directional Tx antennas to transmit a first ITC signal to another TTS. A Tx signal processor is coupled to the first Tx antenna and the one or more second Tx antennas to perform a MIMO encoding of the first ITC signal to transmit with, at least, the one or more second Tx antennas. At least two receiver (Rx) antennas and an Rx signal processor coupled thereto are provided to receive from another TTS, and to decode, a MIMO-encoded second ITC signal to extract ITC information therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20220159650
Abstract: A broadcast communication system includes a plurality of transmitter tower stations configured to exchange inter-tower communication (ITC) signals to support a wireless ITC network (ITCN). Each TTS includes a transmitter (Tx) antenna, at least one receiver (Rx) antenna, and an ITCN server configured to form outgoing ITC signals for transmitting with the Tx antenna and to process incoming ITC signals received with the at least one Rx antenna. Each of the TTSs is configured to multiplex outgoing ITC signals with broadcast services signals prior to the transmitting and to detect the incoming ITC signals in a wireless signal received with the at least one Rx antenna. Several ITCN-integrating broadcast systems operating in a same or different frequency band may be interconnected to support an integrated inter-tower wireless communication network.

  • Patent number: 9479826
Abstract: A system has a first transmitter for transmitting a first wireless signal within a first frequency. A second transmitter is for transmitting a second wireless signal with overlapping frequency. The first transmitter and the second transmitter are disposed sufficiently proximate to another such that the wireless signals substantially interfere resulting in a combined wireless signal with negative SNR for each of the first wireless signal and the second wireless signal, the negative SNR being a result of at least the other of the first wireless signal and the second wireless signal. A receiver is located for receiving a received wireless signal comprising substantially interfering encoded data signals having negative SNR. The receiver is for selecting from the substantially interfering encoded data signals a signal of interest and for decoding said signal of interest relative to at least the other substantially interfering data signal within the received wireless signal.
