  • Publication number: 20120208468
Abstract: A mobile communications method, device, and system for adjusting a phase parameter in a diversity signal, based at least in part on phase feedback from a base station. While in uplink communication with a base station, a mobile device may receive a phase feedback signal from the base station. The mobile device may calculate a modified value of a phase parameter based on the phase feedback signal in order to transmit diversity signals with a gradual change in phase difference. The modified value may be between a phase parameter value indicated by the base station's phase feedback signal and a phase parameter value initially transmitted by the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 8150441
Abstract: A feedback signal is received from a feedback communication device. The feedback signal provides feedback information for a signal at a feedback rate. A modifying communication device modifies the signal by adjusting a nominal value of a transmit diversity parameter in accordance with the feedback information at a nominal value adjustment rate. The signal is perturbed according to the adjusted nominal value at a perturbation rate.

  • Publication number: 20110281610
Abstract: A mobile communication device and a method of controlling same, in which the mobile communication device transmits a plurality of transmit diversity signals comprising a first transmit signal and a second transmit signal differing at least by values of a transmit diversity parameter, receives a plurality of feedback signals from at least one base station in response to the plurality of transmit diversity signals; and determines a system delay based on detecting that a number of expected feedback signal patterns among the received plurality of feedback signals exceeds a system delay threshold.

  • Patent number: 7991365
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamic adaptation of transmit diversity parameters according to detected dynamics that may be, for example, related to changes in actual propagation and network conditions, and may be referred to as mobility parameters. Mobility parameters may apply to variability in a propagation path due to any conditions. Determination of a mobility parameter may be conducted using one or more of multiple parameters available to the mobile terminal.

  • Publication number: 20100266063
Abstract: Communication is performed for a first communication device having a set of antenna elements. A quality-indication signal is received from a second communication device (e.g., a basestation). A complex weighting is calculated based on the quality-indication signal. A pre-transmission signal is modified based on the complex transmit diversity weighting to produce a set of modified-pre-transmission signals, wherein the modifications are symmetric by making approximately half the magnitude of the transmit diversity modification to one signal in a first direction, and approximately half the magnitude of the transmit diversity modification to the other signal in a second direction, opposite the first direction. Each modified pre-transmission signal from the set of modified-pre-transmission signals is uniquely associated with an antenna element from the set of antenna elements. The set of modified-pre-transmission signals is sent from the set of antenna elements to produce a transmitted signal.

  • Publication number: 20080227414
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applications of identification of variations of propagation path to transmit diversity control. Transmit diversity parameters may be modified according to detected dynamics, which may, for example, be related to changes in actual propagation and network conditions. Such dynamics may be referred to as mobility parameters. Mobility parameters may apply to variability in a propagation path due to any conditions. Determination of a mobility parameter may be conducted using one or more of multiple parameters available to the mobile terminal. Such feedback information indication, which is related to the propagation path conditions, may be provided to the apparatus, which would attempt to find a more desired mode of operation, which may lead to reduction in power and the improvement of the quality of transmission.

  • Patent number: 5861568
Abstract: An improved method for generating various wave functions for use in musical tone generation in FM synthesis so as to substantially reduce computational and storage requirements. The waveform desired to be used is mathematically modeled using piecewise linear approximation. A reduced number of coefficients of the piecewise linear approximation, representing the angles and offsets of the linear segments, are stored in memory.

  • Patent number: 5533063
Abstract: A method and apparatus for shaping the impulse response of a non-minimum phase communications channel, by reversing the CIR without enhancing the noise level using non-causal allpass filters is disclosed. Unstable allpass filters are implemented as stable non-causal filters operating in reversed time to obtain a minimum phase response from a non-minimum phase CIR. The original CIR is estimated using adaptive algorithms, and the coefficients of the allpass filters are taken directly from the estimated CIR. The cascade of the channel and allpass filter has an impulse response that is the approximate time reversed version of the original CIR. A "block" allpass equalizer and an "optimal" allpass equalizer are used in a two-stage filter to increase system performance. Other multiple stage filter configurations are disclosed, which can include use of decision feedback equalizer (DFE) decoders as well as Viterbi decoders.
