  • Publication number: 20080237380
Abstract: A spice mill uses one touch button control and a common driven shaft to operate a pair of oppositely disposed grinding mills simultaneously. In environments which are more sophisticated and formal, the users will know which spice will be dispensed through the slightly smaller end and which spice will be dispensed through the slightly larger end, and without having to label the dispenser. In addition, the one touch button is large and easily accessible by almost any finger of the hand used to hold the center section.

  • Publication number: 20080136134
Abstract: A zero turning radius vehicle is disclosed that has a steering and drive control mechanism that includes a steering wheel and an accelerator pedal. The mechanism includes push-pull rods to effect movement of throttle levers on motors that independently drive traction elements such as wheels or traction belts. The position of each push-pull rod can be controlled by both the steering wheel and the accelerator pedal such that both the wheel and accelerator pedal can control the throttle of each motor independently or proportionally to thereby effect a change in vehicle speed and/or direction of travel.

  • Publication number: 20080109972
Abstract: An improved pool vacuum includes a filter cone and poppet valve combination which enables quick drainage of water which has passed through and been cleaned by the cleaner's filter. A charging circuit is provided with isolation so that the pool vacuum can be used in an electrolytic environment without battery drainage. A combination charger and hang bracket enables the pool vacuum to be stored in a vertical position to both drain and charge simultaneously. An interstitial open exhaust gap between a rear body and nose-cone shaped front section provides a low pressure drop free exhaust area for an impeller. An optionally obstructed bottom gap portion helps to produce a net downward thrust to assist in using the vacuum in deep pools from a long pole structure.

  • Publication number: 20060101803
Abstract: A system for controlling a position of jet engine exhaust mixing tabs includes a plurality of exhaust mixing tabs spaced apart from one another and extending from a lip of an exhaust nozzle of a jet engine nacelle adjacent a flow path of an exhaust flow emitted from the exhaust nozzle. Each of the exhaust mixing tabs are constructed to be controllably deformable from a first position adjacent the flow path to a second position extending into the flow path of the exhaust flow in response to a control signal applied to each of the exhaust mixing tabs. In the first position, the exhaust mixing tabs either have no affect on the thrust produced, or increase the momentum (thrust) of the exhaust flow exiting from the exhaust nozzle. In the second position, that is, the “deployed” position, the exhaust mixing tabs are deformed to extend into the flow path. In this position the exhaust mixing tabs promote mixing of the exhaust flow with an adjacent air flow.

  • Patent number: 6917977
Abstract: A network (100) of machines and method (200) for allocating a unique subnet identifier to a subnet in the network (100) having multiple subnets (155,160,165,170,175,190) and a plurality of associated routers (110, 130, 140, 150, 105). The unique subnet identifier provides part of an address of the subnet that is coupled to a router interface and is allocated by firstly determining that a subnet identifier for one of said subnets (155,160,165,170,175,190) is required. A step of allocating automatically a unique subnet identifier to the router interface is then effected, wherein the unique subnet identifier is determined to be unique by said network. A configuring step then configures the subnet to be addressed by said network 100 by using an address based at least partially on said unique subnet identifier.

  • Patent number: 6608134
Abstract: This invention relates to an adhesive composition comprising: microgels of at least one acrylic polymer; and an interlinking polymer covalently bonding at least some of said microgels to each other through said interlinking polymer. In one embodiment, the adhesive further comprises at least one non-gelled polymer, said interlinking polymer covalently bonding at least some of said microgels to said non-gelled polymer. In one embodiment, the invention relates to an aqueous dispersion, comprising: water; microgels of at least one acrylic polymer dispersed in said water; and at least one interlinking polymer capable of covalently bonding said microgels to each other through said interlinking polymer. In one embodiment, the dispersion further comprises at least one non-gelled polymer, and the interlinking polymer is capable of covalently bonding said microgels to said non-gelled polymer.

  • Publication number: 20030088574
Abstract: A method (200) and machine for validating that an identifier is unique within an ad-hoc network (100) of machines. The method comprises obtaining the identifier (220) and then sending a claim request for the identifier to machines in the network (100). Thereafter a step validating the identifier as unique is effected only if an invalidation message is not received within a predefined time period. The invalidation message is indicative of the identifier already being allocated to one of the machines in the network (100).

  • Patent number: 5667187
Abstract: An anti-theft device for portable equipment, such as typewriters, personal computers, video recorders and general office equipment, is in the form of a support or stand which has two components that are mechanically joined by one or more recessed tamperproof screws. Each component has an adhesive strip. By means of these adhesive strips, one component is bonded to the underside of the equipment and the other component is bonded to a mounting surface. The two components can be joined together by tamperproof screws, making the equipment very difficult to remove except by means of a special tool designed for the screws. More than one device may be used with an equipment item so as to give adequate balance and support when the item has an irregular underside. Such a situation arises when the underside has a multiple-planar design or contains ventilation holes and calibration access portals.

  • Patent number: 4673555
Abstract: Phosphate rock is defluorinated by blending with phosphoric acid and a sodium defluorination reagent sufficient to give 5 to 9 percent Na.sub.2 O based on the weight of rock and a mole ratio of CaO plus Na.sub.2 O to P.sub.2 O.sub.5 of 3.00, granulating the blend and introducing the blend into a fluidized bed calcination apparatus having at least a first and second reaction zone, each zone being maintained at a temperature above 1050.degree. C., calcining the blend in the first zone in the presence of water vapor to remove a substantial portion of the fluorine from the blend and further calcining the blend in the subsequent zone or zones in an atmosphere containing sufficient air added in excess of that air required for combustion or water vapor instead of that air to reduce the fluorine content of the blend to a value of less than about 0.18 weight percent while maintaining the phosphorus to fluorine weight ratio in excess of about 100.

  • Patent number: 4609105
Abstract: A protective cartridge assembly for protecting the sensitive recording surface of an information recording disk, said assembly being comprised of a cartridge housing having a pair of cartridge stand-offs attached to the inner upper surface of the cartridge housing, a cartridge tray for supporting the disk placed therein, and a disk spacer ring attached to the disk. The cartridge housing has an opening in its side in which the cartridge insert tray is slidably mounted. The cartridge housing has a protruding lip which cooperates with a recess in the exterior portion of the cartridge tray to sealably close the cartridge assembly thereby preventing contamination from entering the cartridge interior. The cartridge housing stand-offs and the disk spacer rings cooperate to prevent the disk recording surface from contacting the interior surface of the cartridge housing.

  • Patent number: 4536378
Abstract: Processes for the preparation of phosphoric acid, such as merchant phosphoric acid, and for the provision of phosphoric acid suitable for the preparation of ammonium phosphates, are disclosed. Such processes comprise providing a source stream of phosphoric acid comprising more than about 30% P.sub.2 O.sub.5, said source stream having impurities, and removing from the source stream a minor proportion, 20% or less, to form a treatment stream. The level of impurities in the treatment stream is reduced employing any of the means known to those skilled in the art, especially solvent extraction. At least a portion of the treated treatment stream is combined with the balance of the source stream to form a product stream. The treated treatment stream and source stream are proportioned so as to render the product stream less susceptible to post-precipitation than the source stream.
