  • Patent number: 7729472
Abstract: A system to analyze the geometry of a radiation treatment apparatus, software, and methods are provided. The system includes an apparatus having a rotating assembly and a trackable body or plurality of trackable bodies, to mark a location of a preselected portion of the rotating assembly. The system also includes a trackable reference fixture and can include a constant orientation trackable body. A determiner determines the position and/or orientation of the trackable bodies, the trackable reference fixture, and constant orientation trackable body. The determiner then determines the geometry of the treatment apparatus to analyze a coordinate system used by an operator. The determiner can have a memory and geometry analyzing software stored in the memory to analyze the treatment apparatus geometry.

  • Patent number: 7590218
Abstract: A system to monitor a geometry of a treatment apparatus, an apparatus, a trackable assembly, program product, and methods are provided. The system includes a treatment apparatus having a radiation emitter, a rotating assembly controlled by a controller, and an application computer, which provides treatment delivery instructions to the controller. The system can also include a trackable assembly connected to the rotating assembly and having a fixedly connected first trackable body which functions as a reference fixture and a pivotally connected second trackable body which provides data used to determine a rotation angle of the rotating assembly. The system also includes an apparatus to track a trackable body which has a trackable body detector to detect a position of the indicators carried by the first and the second trackable bodies and a determiner to determine and verify the location of the origin of an isocenter coordinate system and to determine rotational path data about the rotating assembly.

  • Patent number: 7289227
Abstract: A system to track a three-dimensional position and an orientation of a movable object and associated methods are provided. The system includes a tracker having an optically trackable body adapted to connect to the movable object. A plurality of optical indicators are connected or mounted to the optically trackable body to form a plurality of geometric figures. A plurality of obfuscating flanges optically separate the optical indicators from each other to prevent each of the optical indicators from becoming optically coincident with another optical indicator when viewed along a preselected viewing path. The system also includes an apparatus to track the tracker having an optical detector to simultaneously detect the three-dimensional position of at least three of the plurality of optical indicators and a determiner to determine the three-dimensional position and orientation of the optically trackable body from the position of the optical indicators.
