One method for their preparation is to nitrate veratraldehyde and after reducing the resulting nitrate to dimethoxy anthranil to obtain its trimerization thus producing a trisubstituted tricycloquinazoline. Another method is to start with dichlorotoluene and after its nitration to oxidize the nitrate into dichloronitrodiacetoxytoluene, its hydrolysis into benzaldehyde followed by a partial reduction to anthranil and finally by the trimerization of the anthranil to obtain the hexachlorotricycloquinazoline.
