Patent number: 7424899Abstract: A hollow-weave airbag is constituted of a bag portion (11) with a 1/1 bag structure, and a closed portion (12) that has two or more weave structures and adjoins the bag portion 11. In addition, the closed portion (12) is constituted of, in sequence from the bag portion side, a first weave structure 12A with a 2/2 structure, a second weave structure 12B with a 1/1 structure, and a third weave structure with a 3/3 structure. Furthermore, the 2/2 structure is constituted of 3 to 5 weft yarns, and the 1/1 structure is constituted of 2 to 5 weft yarns.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2003Date of Patent: September 16, 2008Assignees: Toyoda Boshoku Corporation, Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd., Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kazuhiko Mouri, Syuuichi Katou, Hiroyasu Saiki, Eishichi Nakamura, Shinya Tokunaga

Patent number: 7077425Abstract: A head protecting airbag device according to the present invention includes a gas admissive portion and a non-admissive portion. The gas admissive portion includes a gas feed passage disposed along the upper edge of the airbag, and an inflatable shielding portion located below the gas feed passage for covering the inner side of the windows upon deployment. The inflatable shielding portion includes a plurality of protection portions and a plurality of vertical passages vertically disposed in the front and rear of each of the protection portions. The protection portions are juxtaposed along the front-rear direction of the vehicle. The vertical passages are communicated at upper ends with the gas feed passage. Each of the protection portions admits inflation gas via the vertical passages.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2003Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd.Inventors: Hiroshi Ogawa, Masao Kino, Eishichi Nakamura

Patent number: 7040652Abstract: In a head protecting airbag device, an airbag includes an inflation portion and a connection port portion. The connection port portion includes: an outlet side portion having a communication port to the inflation portion at its lower end; and an inlet side portion for inserting an inflator therein. The inflator includes a body portion having a gas discharge port, and a diffuser having a gas outlet port. The diffuser is connected with the body portion so as to cover the gas discharge port, having its two ends forced into contact with the outer circumference of the body portion. The inflator is connected to a connection port portion with good sealing properties and the gas outlet port faces toward the communication port of the connection port portion and thus toward the inflation portion. This head protecting airbag device simplifies the connection structure between the inflator and the airbag while retaining the quick expansion and inflation of the airbag.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2005Date of Patent: May 9, 2006Assignee: Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tetsuya Ogata, Eishichi Nakamura, Toshinori Tanase
